I would describe this as an example of sensational reporting, a common practice in not just Pakistan but also in India. To exaggerate is very much a common trait of all south asians.
Sensational news is MUCH MUCH better than not reporting at all. But that's a speciality in countries like China,Pakistan and North Korea where TRUTH is not reported and state sponsered LIES are aired and conspiracy creators are having booming business brainwashing their masses.

As I was going through threads on the DFI here is the latest developing news. USA and Afghan forces were fired upon from inside Pakistan by Talibans. The USA forces were picking up supplies dropped B-52. USA and NATO forces fired back and called for F-16 to put an end to attack. All of our troops are safe and sound. I think they are asking for some firecrackers on their side of the border. I hope this escalates into full blown war so we can put an end to ISI SOB's once for all. Than I can say "MISSION ACCOMPLISHED''.

[h=2]US suspects NATO forces lured into deadly raid[/h]NATO forces may have been lured into attacking friendly Pakistani border posts in a calculated maneuver by the Taliban, according to preliminary US military reports on the deadliest friendly fire incident with Pakistan since the war began. The NATO air strike killed 24 Pakistani soldiers over the weekend in an apparent case of mistaken identity, The Associated Press has learned.A joint US-Afghan patrol was attacked by the Taliban early Saturday morning, and while pursuing the enemy in the poorly marked border area, seem to have mistaken one of the Pakistan troop outposts for a militant encampment and called in a NATO gunship and attack helicopters to open fire.US officials say the account suggests the Taliban may have deliberately tried to provoke a cross-border firefight that would set back fragile partnerships between the US and NATO forces and Pakistani soldiers at the ill-defined border.

i have question, as of now is US using Pakistani airspace to fly to Afghanistan ???
From the Persian gulf, yes. That's the only way you can fly to Afghanistan from a carrier. The other way is to fly over Iran.

What abt this supply route > discharge at Liyungang Port of East China, connect onto rail land-bridge to Xinjiang then through Wakhan Corridor to Afghanistan.

According to highly informed diplomatic sources in Islamabad, the US has already explored several alternative supply routes for the international forces stationed in Afghanistan in the wake of an increasing number of attacks on NATO-led International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) convoys travelling through Pakistan, coupled with a frequent suspension of the supply routes by the Pakistani authorities. Pakistan currently receives a huge reimbursement of economic and military assistance from the United States for providing these logistical facilities to the war-torn country. The NATO/ISAF convoys travelling through Pakistan are the principal source of logistical support for coalition forces. Pakistan, being the shortest and most economical route, has been used for nearly a decade to transit almost 75% of ammunition, vehicles, foodstuff and around 50% of fuel for coalition forces fighting the Taliban militia in Afghanistan.

All routes to Afghanistan except through Pakistan are costly.

The cheapest is the Chahbahar (Iran) to Afghanistan. It is cheaper than through Pakistan.

But then, the US is no friend of Iran!

People should explore the history just after 9/11. USA was planning to attack Pakistan and their think tanks were drafting blue prints to do so. It was Musharraf who saved Pakistan's a$$ at that time. Today Pakistanis are either acting stupid, innocent or overconfident, but there is a saying that ''Bakrey ke maa kab tak Kahire manayege''. I personally want USA to avenge Pakistani backstabbing and go back to previous plans they made just after 9/11. Securing Afghan border, destroying Pakistan army-ISI combo and outlaw emirates of Jihadi SWAT, FATA, NWFP of Pakistan is the only way to prosperous Afghanistan.

But that would involve US-China cooperation to the detriment of Pakistan!!! Is that possible as of today? :)

There is one more alternative.

Turkey --> Armenia --> Azerbaijan --> Turkmenistan --> A'than. (bit long and expensive but only possibility)

Iran route is best beside Pakistan but that is not possible.

China route is not possible due to difficult terrain, very long distance and also China won't allow too. Indeed, Even if China allows Turkey-A'than route would be far better.

There is no other option.

It is the Northern Route. It was on the cards all along.

Here is the latest

NATO has opened an alternate supply route to its troops in Afghanistan across Russia and Central Asia. Most NATO supplies enter Afghanistan through Pakistan, but the route has come under increasing attacks by militants in the border region, and NATO has been negotiating alternate routes for months.

The alliance said in a statement today that a trainload of supplies for its 122,000-strong force arrived in Afghanistan on June 9, traveling via Russia, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan for the first time. The shipment consisted of construction materials and food supplies.

Pakistan may summon BBC as news channel blocked

(AFP) – 3 hours ago

LAHORE, Pakistan — Pakistan said Wednesday it was looking at summoning the BBC to demand an explanation over a documentary about the Taliban that has left the BBC World News channel blocked nationwide.

Cable operators pulled the channel late Tuesday amid anger over NATO air strikes that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers.

The move raises concerns about censorship in the conservative Muslim country of 167 million, where Facebook was briefly banned in 2010, just days after the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority sought to ban "obscene" text messages.

Khalid Arain, chairman of the Cable Operators Association of Pakistan, confirmed that BBC World News was off-air nationwide and that other Western news channels had been ordered "not to indulge in anti-Pakistan propaganda".

The row relates to a two-part BBC documentary, "Secret Pakistan," which questions Pakistan's commitment to tackling Taliban militancy.

The BBC said it was deeply concerned by the move, and called for its channel to be speedily reinstated.

Pakistan's media regulator, PEMRA, said: "Definitely, since an issue has been highlighted, the authorities will review the contents of the broadcast and their programmes."

"The authorities can summon BBC representatives and seek an explanation from them," PEMRA spokesman Tahir Izhar told AFP.

Arain said Pakistan was not legally bound to show any foreign channels and was also monitoring Britain's Sky News for "any objectionable content."

Pakistan has aroused increasing criticism overseas and from human rights campaigners within the country over censorship. The row over the BBC saw people post links to the documentary on their Facebook and Twitter accounts.

"It is clear violation of our basic right to information. I condemn it," said Shujauddin Qureshi, a human rights activist.

Saad Haroon wrote on Twitter, "They have taken BBC off the air in Pakistan, great, now we will be the LAST to know when they bomb us."

Last week, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority was forced to row back from banning text messages containing any of nearly 1,700 "obscene" words, many of which were seemingly innocuous, following outrage from users and campaigners.

Pakistan blocked Facebook for nearly two weeks in May 2010 in a storm of controversy about a competition to draw the Prophet Mohammed and has restricted access to hundreds of websites because of alleged blasphemy.
