A sub-inspector of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was killed and a constable injured in an encounter between security personnel and Naxalites in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district on Sunday, police said.

The incident took place in the morning under Jagargunda police station area when a team of the CRPF's 165th battalion was out on an anti-Naxal operation, a police official said.

The operation was launched at around 7 am from Bedre camp towards Ursangal village, he said.

During the operation, an exchange of fire broke out in which sub-inspector Sudhakar Reddy was killed and constable Ramu sustained bullet injuries, he said.

After the exchange of fire stopped, four suspects were rounded up from the spot, he said, adding a joint team of security personnel was carrying out a search in the area.

The injured constable was being shifted to hospital for treatment, the official said.-- PTI

Why is that difficult to imagine? Naxals necessitate concealed weapons caches and storage facilities, posing a challenge to establish in urban and rural areas due to the risk of detection. Furthermore, the presence of covert informants, discreetly relaying intelligence to law enforcement and security forces, heightens the vulnerability of these storage sites. To circumvent this surveillance, the insurgents seek refuge in remote forests and hills, where they can clandestinely stockpile captured weapons and improvised explosive devices (IEDs).

The security agencies encounter difficulties in tracking these concealed facilities due to the prevailing reluctance of law enforcement to employ assertive measures, such as drone reconnaissance and targeted strikes, against internal threats. The hesitance to implement such tactics is rooted in the perception of the issue as an "internal law and order" concern, hindering the decisive action necessary for effective neutralization of these threats.

The landscape of militancy has evolved, prompting a reconsideration of the traditional classification of these groups as Naxals. Speculation abounds regarding potential external influences, with suggestions that these insurgents may be incentivized by entities such as Qatar, the United States, and China, or a convergence of interests among these actors, aimed at fomenting chaos in India. Effectively raising the operational costs associated with illicit activities emerges as the pivotal strategy to dismantle these insurgent networks.

The Barrel Grenade Launcher (BGL) is a country-made improvised ammunition that the Naxals developed sometime in 2021. They used dozen of these during the attack in Tekalgudem on Tuesday, a senior security officer told PTI.

About half-a-dozen personnel suffered mild to serious splinter injuries from the explosion of these rockets. The rest suffered bullet injuries, an another officer said.

The BGLs are filled with explosives inside their iron casing and have fins on their tail that help them take flight.

Yeah, the newly elected govt is trying to hunt down reds. Hence, setting up forward bases in core maoist dominated regions - these are the last remaining bastions of these commies. The CM and HM have promised to clean up this region in 3 years - only time will tell how that turns out. The previous INC govt went easy on reds....

I see no alternative but to deploy drones in the Red belt to isolate the Naxals to the extent that nobody is willing to align with them. It is incomprehensible to me why the paramilitary forces would refrain from utilizing drones. Amit Shah needs to shed his inhibitions in using heavy weapons.

Furthermore, even Drishti-10 can be adapted to transport lightweight payloads; I am confident that the Israelis are indifferent to our utilization of the weaponry.

It's clear that someone is instructing these demons on how to employ these traditional tactics against our security forces. I'm curious about where they go after attacking CRPF convoys.

The most effective way to monitor their movements is through drone surveillance, as human intelligence has its constraints. I suspect that there are allies in India and Nepal who are actively supporting them with resources.

The various types of drones that are valuable for close-range surveillance and neutralization are micro drones, also known as "slaughterbots". Some of these machines are depicted below. These drones resemble flying hand grenades and have the capacity to carry thermite charges that can neutralize 2-3 targets in a single explosion. Additionally, they can be outfitted with miniature cameras, similar to those found in smartphones, to capture precise footage.

The IDF and specialized units such as Yamam are purported to have utilized these drones for conducting house-to-house searches in Gaza, as well as in their counter-terror operations, with deadly effectiveness.

Three Naxalites were gunned down in an exchange of fire with security forces in a dense forest in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district bordering Telangana on Saturday, a senior police official here said.

The encounter took place in Pujari Kanker forest along the interstate border when a team of Greyhounds, Telangana's elite anti-Naxal force, was out on an operation, he said.

A team of Chhattisgarh police was also present in the area to extend auxiliary support to the Greyhounds team, he said.

"Three Naxalites were killed in the gunfight and weapons were also recovered from the spot," the official said.

A search operation is still underway in the area, he added.

Earlier this week, at least 13 Naxalites including three women were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district.
