He is a JAT officer, Assam Rifles is present mostly in NE, I think only a few women soldiers are near LOC

They wear the new plate carriers and helmets over that. So, I'd say not bad.

These guys are meant to check cattle smugglers and such. Look at the Punjab border or LoC. They are okayishly equipped.

Any progress on the Ak-203 deal to manufacture it in India. It is almost a year and a half that, the whole subject was mooted. The matter is truck in some state in the bureaucracy.

All this is happening because the MOD and the Armed forces are somehow interested only in big sensational orders that create a big ruckus.

In contrast, look at the MHA. It has been ordering arguably the best AKM variant in the entire world from Bulgaria, X95s from Israel, all very quietly in small batches every year without any major contract. Some of the MHA units (NSG, some CRP units) are better equipped than the army now.

I don't know why MOD orders are not as simple as MHAs.
