That still doesn't change the fact that the M4 has an market developed for itself alone but the AK and it's variables don't. In the end the M4 and it's design has longevity, Kalashnikov is simply playing catchup and it will never match the American small arms industry and it's budding aftermarket industry.

That's not entirely true though
Have seen a couple of pics with proper used sights from the recent exercise with the Americans

In this particular pic, I would give them the benefit of the doubt, and say sights are down deliberately

I donno about LPVOs but surely some have been equipped with HOLOs
Which is not what you'd normally expect on a Weapon such as the 716

I believe some tender was released some time ago regarding LPVOs
Maybe some other forum member can throw light on that
