Promising Turkish Altay tank may be left without engine



The latest Turkish tank currently left without engines. Janes.com portal reported that the engine supplier for the Altay tanks Tümosan company terminated the contract with the Austrian company AVL List GmbH, which was to convey to the Turkish contractor motors technology.

Turkish manufacturer Tümosan Defense Ministry was chosen Turkey as a supplier of engines for advanced combat vehicles. In 2007, the Turkish Ministry of Defense ordered the development of the new tank company Otokar. By 2012, developers have released the first two prototype combat vehicle, and at the beginning of last year, collected four tanks Altay. Tanks perfectly proved at trial, having more than 4000 km. According to the Ministry of Defence of the Turkish plans, Altay tanks will have to replace the German Leopard 1A and Leopard 2A, as well as the American M48 and M60, which are now are in service of the Turkish army. :shock:Being a tankman is not a woman's job.
Frankly, I am of the opinion that being a tanker is the only combat job appropriate for women in army. Especially if the tank has an autoloader.

Will you be loading into it, or are you a woman tooo_O? Raise the cover of the engine compartment, replace the broken truck?

Autoloader has 28 rounds. Use them and then what? The photo shows that the Syrian crew of the T-72 has 3 women. of Course, can be used in a tank a woman driver, but if there is a Hydraulic booster, automatic transmission. But not in the T-72.

It will need to re engineered the rear part of the MBT. Maybe another gearbox also.
The MTU engine (if it is this one, but quite sure) is very compact and powerfull. Another one may be less powerfull and takes more space.
Not so easy....
