These Chinese aawam seem awfully thin skinned.

They can spew insults on India and even personal ones like calling NSA chief a "schemer" through their state owned media but can't take it when a private Indian media house gives it back.

For those Chinese people who are bitching about a magazine cover, your CCP issues stapled visas for Arunachal Pradesh residents.

It is not possible to guess China's intent here at Dokalam. Is it territorial or is it to humiliate India for not joining OROB. But their verbal propaganda was alarming compared to India's restrained response. Summer was the best time chosen this year for a minor showdown. It would also help Pakistanis as they are under huge pressure at the LOC.

My guess is that OROB and the huge pressure which India is exerting on LOC were chief reasons. If Chinese stood up heavily at unknown issue of Dokalam, they would let India know that who is the boss of Asia and also while Indian attention diverted, pressure on LOC will be reduced, rather it would embolden Pakistan to be more aggressive.

Hardly did the Chinese know that an iron fist is waiting for them at Dokalam and Supreme Court of Pakistan is about to force Pakistanis both politicians and military leaders into a back foot. They could not afford to be aggressive at this juncture. Unknown to the Pakistanis of US reaction to Dokolam, the US was ordering some naval ships to Indian Ocean vicinity. That was to dissuade both Chinese and Pakistanis not to be too much aggressive. More so to the Pakistanis i.e. to stay within their own boundary walls when confrontation with Chinese was on. As the situation stands today, Pakistani aggressive attitude has been toned down by the political turmoil their. Now US feels that Chinese can be dealt with by India itself.

So as it stands today, Pakistanis are where they should always be. Chinese not understanding properly Indian military posture have toned down their Global Times propaganda. The Indian NSA in Peking for other reasons has met the Chinese president, a very unusual step and things may not escalate any further. Then in five months winter will come and both armies will retreat to their bases. Who knows what happens next year,

Look at source of that article, "South China Morning Post" another commie party mouth piece.

Unlike people in India(or any other free country), Chinese people are not that well versed in foreign affairs or even domestic policies. You'd be surprised to know how little Chinese people know about their leaders and gov affairs. Very little information is released to general public through state controlled media.

When they say outrage in social media, what it really means is some pro CCP guy on Weibo said something and Chinese state media made it their headline news to promote their propaganda. This may seem outrageous but CCP is known to fabricate fake uproar to show how Chinese people are behind CCP. This is False consensus effect.

On top of this most educated Chinese don't read/speak even basic English so getting outraged after reading Indian magazine is highly unlikely. Commie party has intentionally created this language barrier to keep Chinese people isolated from foreign ideas. Thats why I always chuckle when I see a patriotic Chinese posters on DFI writing in perfect English. They are either NRC or 50 centers or Pakis in disguise.

Good points. If I may add they did military drills a month ago, which was disclosed later. Also this encroachment has a pattern, they do it whenever India tries strategic outreach to world leaders and we are in a bit of spotlight. Last time when Xi was here in India they invaded in Ladakh.

On Internal politics If may add another point to shame this Congress-I and its Rahul. When Modi was hosting Mr. Xi, PLA encroached in Ladakh. He mocked him for taking 'Jhulla" swing with him. Today when India has returned the favour he has no word to praise but connived with them to politically unsettle India and Indian interests.

They thought that this little road development project will go under Indian radar like old days. Even if India notices it, the worst thing India might do is go to international forum where China can easily ignore India. Unfortunately for Chinese, Modi sent IA to intervene the project.

Summer was the best time chosen this year for a minor showdown.
Believe me this is not good time for Chinese. Right now China is in a hard spot between NoKo issue and SCS. Last thing they want right now is a conflict with India.

It would also help Pakistanis as they are under huge pressure at the LOC.
Chinese are smart. They know true aukat of Pakis. They won't open a military front against a giant like India for Pak.

The whole Doklam incident is nothing but Chinese calculation gone wrong. Now they are doing damage control through various means.

Amidst Doklam row, CAG says Akash missile system yet to be deployed in eastern sector

CAG claimed that based on threat perception, the government in 2010 had envisaged induction of strategic missile system for the IAF on Eastern sector to create deterrence capability and it was planned to be put in place between June 2013- December 2015 in phased manner.

“But, till date, even after four years this urgently needed capability has not been created and the strategic objective remains unachieved,” CAG observed.

actually i could not understand this OROB thing......
why contries like to join this , and give excusive right of the road use to china...
.inplace why don't country build the road on their land by their convient & money and keep all right with themself.....

the whole talk of india not joining this orob thing is misleading , india already linked with bangladesh , china , pakistan with existing roads ......whats the point in then joining the project and surrendering the rights to chinese just for the road renovation they will do on your land !!!

Don't worry most of the reporting regarding critical systems is outdated. I once tried selling defence equipment and came to know like 2 years back that critical defence equipment has already been installed.

And it is now that reports are surfacing that work is under progress to install that system .

Shashi Tharoor also says Rahul Gandhi is a fine intellectual and Sunanda Pushkar committed suicide.

His only talent is eloquence. He is a Sophist straight out of Ancient Greece that Plato and Socrates etc warned against: "a greedy instructor who uses rhetorical sleight-of-hand and ambiguities of language in order to deceive, or to support fallacious reasoning. In this view, the sophist is not concerned with truth and justice, but instead seeks power."

Give Nifty, take Doklam! Stellar show of Indian stocks leaves Chinese green in envy

By
Amit Mudgill

Updated: Jul 28, 2017, 04.43 PM IST

The IMF recently said that India would stay ahead of China in terms of growth in 2017 and 2018.

NEW DELHI: The Nifty50 is the source of a bigger grudge for the Chinese than Doklam, or so it seems!

More than a month into the eyeball-to-eyeball standoff between the two armies, Chinese media is suddenly talking a lot about the impressive 20 per cent year-to-date surge in India’s Nifty index, which has just zipped past the 10,000 mark.

Chinese people on social media are talking more grudgingly about the Nifty’s stellar show this year than the tense war of words between the two nuclear powers over Doklam, a narrow plateau lying in the tri-junction region of Bhutan, India and China. It is a disputed territory claimed by both Bhutan and China and India and China are engaged in a tense standoff in this dispute.

The People's Daily newspaper on July 26 cited intensive discussions on Chinese social media as to why China’s A-share market has not been able to perform as well as its neighbour’s equity market.

A-share stocks of mainland China-based companies are traded on the Shanghai Stock Exchange and the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. These shares are quoted in the renminbi and can only be traded by either Chinese or investors under the Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (QFII) and the Renminbi Qualified Foreign Institutional Investor (RQFII) rules.

The Shanghai Stock Exchange’s A-share index is up just 5 per cent so far this year, which pales in comparison with the 22 per cent surge in India’s 50-stock benchmark. This happened despite the MSCI decision to add mainland China-A largecap stocks in the MSCI Emerging Market index.

An article in China’s Global Times noted that stock market is a mirror of an economy, and thus, the divergent stock market performances in China and India actually reflect the different focuses of the two economies in the years to come. It said gains by the Indian benchmarks left the Chinese mainland stock markets in the dust.

In May this year, Moody’s Investors Service downgraded China’s credit ratings for the first time in nearly 30 years. It cut China’s long-term local and foreign currency issuer ratings by one-notch to A1 from Aa3.

(Source: IMF)

Acknowledging dramatic changes since 2014, the daily noted that turmoil in China’s A-share market spooked investors in 2015, even as the government stressed on tightening financial regulations to prevent risks and deleveraging and eliminate bubbles.

In 2015, in order to halt a plunge in Chinese stocks, Beijing’s securities markets regulator had ordered shareholders with more than 5 per cent holdings from selling shares for six months.

The Chinese authorities have also taken steps to bring stability in the domestic stock market. In January this year, the China Insurance Regulatory Commission (CIRC) restricted insurers from investing no more than 5 per cent of total assets at the end of the previous quarter in a single stock.

Taking a positive view of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘aggressive’ approach on policy reforms, the daily noted that encouraged by the implementation of demonetisation and the goods and services tax, besides easing of foreign direct investment regulations, foreign portfolio investors have begun to warm up to Indian stocks.

“Expectations of an interest rate cut (by the Reserve Bank of India) and robust economic growth have also enhanced investor confidence in Indian equities,” it noted.

The IMF recently said that India would stay ahead of China in terms of growth in 2017 and 2018 with GDP growth of 7.2 per cent in 2017-18 and 7.7 per cent in 2018-19 compared with China’s 6.7 per cent in 2017 and 6.4 per cent in 2018.

The Global Times article talked about need for restoration of confidence in China’s stock markets and prevention and reduction of systemic risk in the system.

That's why they've cooled off a trifle on the Doklam issue seeing that a scrap out there would send their economy into a tailspin which is the last thing they want, seeing their falling GDP and downgrading of their credit ratings.

Indian-made bulletproof jackets in few months: Lt GenJ P Singh

CHANDIGARH:The much-awaited state-of-the-art light weight bulletproof jackets for armed forces personnel would not only help them move with greater agility during counter-insurgency operations but they could be customized depending upon operational requirements.

Giving details about the upcoming bulletproof "Make in India" jackets for troops, Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) consultant Lt Gen J P Singh (retd) told TOI that the jackets are under production at ordnance factory in Kanpur and set for induction in next few months. He also added that the new jackets would also give a feel of modular clothing to troops.

Lt Gen Singh, who retired as Army deputy chief, had shared these details on Thursday during a roundtable conference on "Reforms in Defence Procurement — Opportunities for the Northern Region" held at Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) regional officer.

Explaining about its security features, Gen Singh said the jackets would be completely indigenous and for the first time made according to Indian standards."After defining the standard, these prototype bulletproof jackets were made under controlled conditions," he said.

Thereafter, they were randomly picked up from different lots and put on trial to ensure that quality and safety is not compromised. Once the prototype was approved, we had ordered for their production at the ordnance factory and some private parties," said Gen Singh.

Stating the features of the jackets, Lt Gen Singh said that special focus has been given on the size of the jackets to ensure it fits on all size soldiers and they do not feel uncomfortable. It would not only a protection gear but would also be modular clothing, which would keep soldiers efficient during normal wear, he added.

He further explained that the new jackets would be customized and the soldiers would be able to wear them in accordance to their requirements.

"If a soldier is in picket, he need not to wear rear portion of the jacket and can continue duty with front portion of the jacket. Similarly the helmet, neck-guard, groin and sides can be customized as per operational needs", Gen Singh elaborated.

The DRDO had been working on the development of these prototypes bullet-proof jackets, as per the newer technical specifications, using different state-of-the-art ballistic materials.

This under-development prototype aims to protect against AK 47s and self-loading rifle bullets. Stated to be ultra-lightweight, these jackets are reportedly 8-times lesser in weight than the present jackets used by the armed forces. It is for the first time that Army would have bullet-proof jacket manufactured completely in India.
