J-K: Pak violates ceasefire in Bhimber Gali sector, Indian Army retaliates.

Rajouri (Jammu and Kashmir) [India], June 11 (ANI): The Indian Army launched a strong retaliatory action after Pakistan again violated ceasefire in the Bhimber Gali sector in the Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday.

The Pakistan Army initiated indiscriminate firing of small arms and automatics from 9.45 a.m. today along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Bhimber Gali sector.

The Indian Army posts have been since then retaliating swiftly and effectively.

The exchange of fire is currently underway. (ANI)

Thanks, I have never seen the first pic. But how come only one has been equipped with nvg? Is it cause of lack of numbers? Or is that SOP?

How infiltration is possible on LOC? When your HM Rajnath Singh says that “India’s borders 'more secured' than before: Rajnath Singh

It's near impossible to guard every inch of the over 3000 km border with a hostile neighbor. So he's spot on when he said that the borders are MORE secure than before. The word he used was 'more'.

Thus some infiltration is possible, even though we have a three tier system in place to prevent such infiltration into the Valley.

One needs to look at the geography and topology of the border to understand that complete sealing off is nigh impossible.

The LoC and to a lesser extent IB run through some extremely harsh, and unforgiving terrain- rivers, mountains, forests, river canals, snow-capped peaks, deserts and mountains. Perhaps most if not all of earth's geographical and climatic zones can be found along the Indian frontier.

In many places, the geography alone makes trans boundary movement extremely daunting. But it's not impossible for small bands of extremely trained and motivated men and women to sneak across, because the terrain is a double-edged sword- if it is daunting for the transgressor, it's equally challenging if not more for the defender. Perhaps more, since the infiltrators need to succeed once, while the defenders need to be successful every time.

This is compounded by the fact that the infiltrators have all the resources of a sovereign enemy state at their disposal.

Think of it this way, even if you have the most secure home with regular baygon sprays, you'll still find cockroaches scurrying around from time to time, despite your best efforts to stop them.

Now if you share a wall with the neighbour who's determined to breed and then stuff your house with cockroaches, imagine how challenging would it be for you to stop the roach infestation. Not to mention your house is littered with stuff, nooks and corners and cracks in the wall where the cockroaches, once they enter, can find safety, shelter and food.

Now amplify this by a factor of 1000 and we'll perhaps get an idea of what it means to be the soldier defending the motherland at the border.

The laser wall technology being used by india along side the border, with the mixture of using infra-red rays and laser beams, the laser walls cannot just detect when there is a breach but can also tell differentiate between man and beast, then chances of infiltrations are very low and one can say nearly impossible if you have these preventive measures along side the border with Pakistan.

NIck please introduce yourself first. Second, The terrain which is being refereed to is Himalayan terrain. You should look in to Google Maps and Google Images how LOC terrain looks like.

The enemy is being observed beefing up its Defences along with additional ammunition being dumped at various location, Rawalakot has its govt school buildings occupied but the troops which have just moved in they are likely
to move to forward locations soon.

All the ongoing actions and increased boot on the ground an indicator of sudden apprehension which has grown many folds since the day the Top leadership is camping in J&k.

Which again is an indicator of the new aggressive policy change adopted.

After clashes with Afghan forces,the paki 10 corps had to send some reinforcements and some resources to the afghan border which was meant for india...

They have started using their reserve personnel because they are overstretched from india to iran to afghanistan.

It is unfortunate that we seldom use all our assets like satellite reconnaissance from our sats like the CARTOSAT series and RISAT, even though CARTOSAT 2C is a military satellite with a resolution of 60cm. These images are first sent to the cabinet secretariat and do not filter down to the lowest formations in time.

This is possibly the reason why we are unable to hit terrorist training camps and launch pads with artillery due to lack of real time imagery to the lower formations. We did this successfully during the surgical strike, but it seems it's now back business as usual!

Sir with all due respect to you I would like to differ.

Sat imagery is required to be circulated only on the need to know basis. A inf unit sitting at the LOC has no requirement of the sat image showing a newly constructed terrorist infrastructure until unless the unit has been tasked to carryout a attack by Infiltration during hostilities. During No War No Peace postue the these images are best required by the formations, Special forces and Mil Intelligence which keeps updating their inputs on TERRORIST related infrastructure.

The Arty units and formations are loaded with a target book with all important enemy target Grid References.
And yes along with Sat images too, after any Arty duet exchange POST DAMAGE ASSESSMENT REPORT is made using the Sat images and live feed from UAVs.

If we chose to specifically target infrastructure such as important roads Pak army will have hard time moving their units and their deployment at important posts will be untenable and ultimately they have to vacate the posts.


PoK already has shit poor infrastructure and it can be easily target even by Mortars. We can cut off Neelam valley as and when we want.
