As you pointed out, the mallaca straits open into Indian territory, i.e any vessel coming out of Mallaca straits is in India's sphere.

CPEC even if fully operational would not cater for even 5% of total China's transports.
There is a reason why sea ports are the preferred methods of transporting large volumes.

Sushma Swaraj is a disappointment. There should be an answer given to these Mongrels.
You can't expect a reply each time the dog barks. However, yes from time to time, there should be some response that deals with ten or so of these inane comments.

Just like you don't descend to the level of pigs to fight them, we shouldn't try to match Chinis for each of their comments.

I am not saying the Chinese are going to send cargo ships to fight war with us . What if we face same incidents like USN faced in the last two months accidental ones ...well as you said no self respecting navy will allow a cargo ship to even come close to it in war ....

No self-respecting warship allows a cargo barge to come anywhere within striking distance of it, especially when guns drawn and safety off. Couple of warnings, then BOOM. Cargo on ocean floor.
Few clarifications our strategic reserve oil storage is only for 10 days not for months ..we will have 30 days reserve capacity by 2020 . China has for 30 days and building capacity for 90 days ...

They already have war ships in Arabia sea and Indian ocean . Check out their naval outpost in Maldives which also has a air strip to land their bombers ... If our armed forces never thought Maldives base is not threat they would have not secretly started work on naval base in karavatti island in Lakshadweep . .

Plus they have Gwadar and also the recently opened base in Djibouti which also has ships and marine commandos . .

Last but not least not necessary that all Chinese shipments go through Malacca straits in Chinese ships it can even go in other flag ships so how will we target them . The amount of ships which does through the IOR region it's very large and are we going to fight the war and also put economic blockade with such small amount of ships we got . . Remember the PLAN will send their ships and subs which also need to be countered. Honestly as of today we can only limit Chinese war ships to an extent but not fully stop them in BoB or IoR ..we need more for that 2020 is when we can realistically think of causing any massive trouble to Chinese in IOR provided we induct those shops and also helicopters which are badly missing on most of our newly commissioned shops for ASW

what are You smoking Bro ??
in the case of war they will send their navy to attack on south India .......................so blocking of malacca strait is necessary to stop their invasion .
also we have more than 5 million tonnes of underground crude oil storage which can be used for many Months in the case of war ..

Hitting Indian Navy ship by Chinese cargo ships ?? :pound::pound::pound:

Lol , they will spread mines around Malacca strait & our navy ships are armed each unknown Incoming ship will be destroyed in the case of war .

I am not expecting them to answer when flea bags of Global Times bark, but when Chinese officials run their lose tongue it warrants an answer from India.

She is on her way out of EAM . She did her job till now very well but with her ailing health she won't be able to continue the portfolio anymore with such passion . Someone is on the way to replace her .

Plus Chinese are using their tabloid s not their direct official to issue these tsunami of threats . . Very few official communication s from Chinese FAM . .for which Sushma ji has replied in parliament when opposition wanted an answer .

On another note I think why havent we renamed Arabian Sea to something like West Indian ocean/ Sea of Gujarat/ Sea of Maharastra etc. Why should a sea off Indian coast be named after Land of Islam.

Govt. gives Army free hand to mobilise troops against China. Air Force asked to remain ready
Friday, August 25, 2017 By: Assam Tribune Source Link: CLICK HERE

Though India is not apprehending any war amidst the standoff with China in Doka-La area, the Prime Minister has given a free hand to the forces to mobilise and the Indian Air Force has been asked to remain as stand-by to deal with any eventuality.

Highly placed security sources told The Assam Tribune that the free hand given to the forces to mobilise is just a precautionary measure so that the forces can stay ready to defend the country’s territory wherever required.

The Government of India is of the view that China may try to create minor troubles in different parts of the international border like the minor scuffle that took place in Ladakh area on August 15, but at present, India is not apprehending a war.

Sources said that the Indian Army has also told the Prime Minister that the Indian forces are fully capable of holding ground in Doka-La area. “If the Indian Army can control Siachen for so many years in a much hostile climatic condition, there is no reason why we cannot control Doka-La,” the Army officers reportedly assured the Prime Minister.

Sources further pointed out that at present, India is in a much advantageous position in Doka-La area as Indian troop mobilisation is much nearer to the area and China would have to go much deeper to bring in troops in case of any eventuality. At the same time, sources said that after October, when snowfall starts in the area, both sides would find it difficult to stay put in Doka-La.

Security sources further said that China may keep the standoff on till October as the President of the country Xi Jinping is seeking re-election and after the election, there is every possibility of the standoff coming to an end. Moreover, it is apparent that China was not apprehending resistance from India and now “they are issuing rhetorical statements through the state controlled media.”

However, at the same time, sources admitted that control over the Doka-La area would not only allow China to gain a strong foothold in Bhutan, but it would also give the neighbouring country access to the narrow corridor connecting the Northeast region with the rest of the country and the Government of India is fully aware of the situation and decided to maintain a tough stand on the issue.

At times when something substantive needs to be rebutted, sure; but in most cases, as in this, even the Chini officials put out inane comments that deserve nothing but dignified silence from us.

They are like a troll who should be starved of attention.
