No news on Astra integration on Tejas.
Are you sure about that?
That's a static display. HAL babus can mount anything there.
Is there a video or press release saying Astra test fire successful ?
Till then I will not accept it. I need kadi proof like Khujliwal :)

Why the hell is astra not yet test fired from Tejas.
I mean indigineous aircraft should first be made to deploy indigenous missile.
No news on Astra integration on Tejas. What is happening.
AFAIK, they were still working on the indigenious rail for it, so it didn't require an adapter.

Why are defence journos such absolute ar$es? He is not letting the test engineer complete his thoughts before cutting him & starting on a different question.

Don't even get me started on the Mig-29K shot when they talk about Atmanirbharta & NLCA landing on INS Vikrant. Maybe he should inject himself with some passion for his job as the test engineer was advising.

We have to break the cartelisation on jet engine manufacturing. The simple choice for RR, Safran and GE is to either make billions from the opportunity here or let it pass them by. The key thing is out of these three participants there is only one winner and that's why we have pit them against each other. Let's see how desperate they are to win this one.

Also, if they were so disinterested they would not have thrown their hat in the ring by entering the competition in the first place.

India will never be self reliant in Aero-engines if you think you can do it via JV....you think you can pitch them against each other, but it will not work....it's as simple as that.....IAF should consider AF version of TEDBF powered by 2*Kaveri engines, if Rafale can fly with 2*75KN engines, so is TEDBF.....AF-TEDBF is the most achievable option, it is more achievable than Tejas-Mk2 imo, if uncle Sam put sanctions on F414, Tejas-Mk2 cannot fly,but AF-TEDBF can with 2 Kaveris

loosing 110KN engine deal is small L, but sabotaging 110KN engine is big W.....so those 3 countries whom you want to put against each other will choose option 2....so stop dreaming about JV & start working on indigenous engine, even if it takes time, meanwhile order some AF version of TEDBF powered by twin Kaveris

IAF should consider
Due respect but that's a load of bull poop. How can we mango men advise the professionals in IAF on what they should be doing? It's almost like we think they don't know their job or that we can do a better job than them, at any rate.

If the ASQR for Mk2, AMCA & TEDBF allowed a 73kN Kaveri in the engine bay then why would IAF get in the way? Wouldn't they be the happiest to get these planes earlier as the end users? But they are targeting a certain capability like super cruise and they have a power requirement based on that. It's not like we have a solution in hand and still we are pushing for a JV over looking the home grown stud, are we?

A mature Kaveri is being considered for HLFT-42 and has an outside chance for Tejas Mk1/A MLU. There is a future trajectory for Kaveri as elucidated here..

But if we want mission 470 in the next two decades we can't be putting pen to paper now for a 110kN engine. Do we even have a homegrown program targeting that spec? Is any in house effort being made at all in GTRE???

Hence, JV.

Kaveri only good for UAV or light attack or trainer aircraft, and not for fighter jets currently .
Many peoples in this form only consider dry/wet thrust but completely forget about weight & TWR.
Its far behind rafale engine & Ej200, if wanted snecma can develop 125Kn engine using M88 tech
Kaveri need to produce trust similar to f414 to match m88/ej200
