If Chinese cared about bad publisity they wouldn't export a thing. They were but of global jokes and now they are no. 1 exporter.

Even japanese products were ridiculed at a time before they became synonyms with quality .
Difference with that is that if a product fails overseas, our dalal lobby and some bad apples in military will use that example to scuttle/sling mud over that indigenous project. This never happens in case of Japan or China.

For that you need media management as well . When you have entire world against you (we perfectly fit here) even successfull Export can be given bad light.

Even after bad publicity for dhruva we kept buying and improving it . Now we have more than 300 produced + it's derivatives lch , luh are nearing orders while bigger designs are being worked on.

We gotta take those risks. Time goes by anyway.

Just like a man must take risks in life cause Life ends anyway.

So as long our export is most economical / technically suited to buyers they will buy it no matter what others say.

Look at china they are commenting genocide everyone Hates them and yet no one can rid of their products anytime soon.

Anyone here thinks India supplying Tejas to Argentina is a good idea when Britishers will be naturally against it ?
Without entering much of the political aspect of the deal, if HAL considers it to be a possible sale and has the tools to make the changes...sure, were talking about a 500-600M U$ deal with possibility of more along the years.

Ill remain skeptical until there is something that proves that the Arg MoD is willing to go with a purchase...while all of that goes on...ill prefer to look for the Malaysian deal, FOC deliveries, and the ASTRA/other armament integration.

A good point - HAL and DRDO need autonomy to indulge in media management. In plain language, pay off journos and DDM to get favorable reporting for local products. Everything can be spun favorably and disfavorably - and that's where we're losing big time.

But I agree - need to export and export again. Failures are stepping stones to success.

With a view to influencing whom? If it is decision makers, won't they just disregard anything positive said about HAL or DRDO's products once they discover that they have been taken in by positive spin?

Not just the decision makers, but the vast public that is ignorant about achievement's. Such campaigns cannot be seen as useful immediately. It takes time to build up positive attitudes towards domestic products. We are fighting colonialism - that has been imbibed in us for centuries. So take media management one step at a time. Work on dissemination about Indian products and their accomplishments and also on improving perceptions.

My question is do we need to export LCA to make money? ( no) will LCA and LCA derivatives will be main stay of IAF past 2030 ( yes around 200 + ) is it a good idea to exporting LCA to countries Already purchasing Chinese weapon systems ( no) , then why every one rooting for LCA export, am totally against it because a main stay fighter end up in Chinese controlled or supporting countries Equlent to donating then to Pigistan,

Ps: am happy pigistan buying more Chinese stuff countering them more easy because ameriks and yahudis already have counters for all their Arsenal

It sounds to me like you don't want to go past import substitution. Why not export if you can? When countries export military aircraft, they have strings in the contract. I am sure that F-35 buyers cannot sell them to Russia, for example, or China unless US agrees.

The Brits have worried about India's concerns when they armed Pakistan in the past? Do you believe that if Pakistan had the money to buy British weapons, the Brits would refuse out of concern for India?

Exports help drive down the unit prices for the airplane, help in improving the pipeline for the suppliers as well as HAL, which is extremely important. It will mean HAL and its suppliers have to increase the production rate, which will be of benefit to the IAF in the long run.

This will help us with driving down costs for spares, etc. It will also help HAL break into the Latin American market where there are other nations that could also be offered the Tejas, such as Colombia and Peru. Equador may not bite given the ALH Dhruv experience, but there is opportunity there for us, rather than sit and cede it to the Chinese.
