Congrats @Roland55

HAL offers to replace 50 components in LCA-Tejas for Argentinean order

Chief of state-run aerospace behemoth Hindustan Aeronautics Limited R Madhavan speaking to ” Business-standard” has confirmed that India officially has offered its LCA-Tejas Mk1A Jets to Argentina. Last month, Infodefensa, a South American military news, interviewed Brigadier Xavier Julian Isaac, the chief of the Argentine Air Force where he had confirmed receiving a letter of intention from HAL to Participate in the tender for 12 jets that Argentina is looking to procure. Madhavan also said that HAL has offered to replace major components like British-supplied Cobham Inflight-refueling Probe, quartz nose cone, and Martin-Baker Ejection seats with other alternatives. In total 50 small and big components will be replaced if Argentina selects LCA-Tejas Mk1A that has been offered to them and also HAL assured that jets will be supplied after due certifications of new equipment and components replaced within the agreed timeframe between two parties at the time of contract. Madhavan added that the official pricing of the jet will be shared with Argentina by end of this month after considering the cost of re-equipment of 50 components and the supply of alternative systems and components from other suppliers. Argentine Air Force will decide by the “first quarter of next year” which aircraft they will procure. Argentina has received offers for the supply of the JF-17 from China and the MiG-29 and MiG-35 from Russia. Chinese are offering their JF-17 jets with Locally made Ejection seats rather than Martin-Baker Ejection seats that are presently installed on the jets that are operational with Pakistan and Nigeria. idrw.org was told that American re-export orders for the GE-supplied F-404 engines won’t be an issue since Americans don’t have such a Weapons embargo on them as Argentinean Air Force continues to operate American-made Douglas A-4 Skyhawk subsonic carrier-capable light attack aircraft fleet without any issue

Egypt is always looking at everything. So are Qatar, Saudi & UAE... If you think IAF is a zoo you should see these guys
Apparantly the Egyptians want to retire their Chinese K8 trainer aircrafts, which are 100-120 in number. They may be looking to purchase Tejas LIFT. That would match the 100 numbers that is being mentioned by some sites.

What I don't understand in Argentina's case is, what the hell do they want? Mig 29 , mig 35 is in different class to mk1a

1st THEY DON'T WANT 10TH GEN FIGHTER JF17. and that's a fact. They said it themselves.

They want mig class but Russia isn't offer isn't satisfactory it seems. Also fear CAATSA.

as for Tejas, I wonder how will HAL change Martin Baker seats.

However with current scenario, maybe JF17 but yet Chinese offer isn't too satisfactory.

@Roland55 your opinion??

Egyptians won’t buy LCA, Thats for sure, reason beinh their airforce is already a clusterfvck of aircrafts from various countries and thew will not want to further worsen it by buying another different tyoe of aircraft from a different country.

OTOH
They are considering it for local manufacture which India is offering. It is going to be a big deal with Egypt.

LCA is the stepping stone , India has lot to offer to Egypt as HAL nurtures technologies with partnerships.

India is betting big on west Asia from Quad to IPL and many more.

Oh I see.

Most probably JF17 will win. They have already sold JF17s to other countries.

Maybe we can grease some hands though , learn something from our own expert baboos

Im going to try to sum it up, but the choice was always towards a 4th gen (or 3+ when talking about the Kfir or F-1). With the UK cancelling access to the Gripen and FA-50 (and the US not offering anything) it all boiled down to what we call "unconventional suppliers" (Russia, China) and well...those were the offers, FC-1/JF-17, Any of the Mig-29 family...

Im surprised that india went with it, specially when the Uk is such a present nation in terms of defense partnership, Nonetheless i would like to see this go though. Well....as long as it give us access to Mk.2

So Egypt wants LIFT aircraft and 100 aircrafts are required. LCA can be a choice, but I’m not at all optimistic.
If it is license manufacturing in Egypt , then it's a possibility. But let's wait. Man I think Mudi baba wants to export Tejas as part of his 75th Independence Anniversary day plan and show people that India can be a major defence exporter in future
