Thry will reduce warhead, weight by composite usage. Etc.
Will they?.. That's why I showed the pic.
Aero India 2005, showing Tejas with Sea-Eagle AShM, Super 530D BVRAAM, R-550 MagicII CCM & BGL-400 LGB... NOT. A. SINGLE. ONE. ON. TEJAS. TODAY.
Not every dream is achievable, neither is there the need. MWF can do it. Tejas will do CAP, CAS & maybe might see some swingrole action.

What nobody has mentioned is building an effective support structure for exports. On that tack, I think that what would be beneficial to Indian fighter exports would not be a large Mk1A export order but rather a very small one to begin with (say less than 10).

Let me first possibly incur the wrath of nationalistic members by saying that development of the Indian aerospace sector is hampered by (a) an over-complex bureaucracy (b) an absence of accountability (c) many other failings.

If you want to become successful in a field, you need to address your shortcomings (or potential shortcomings) and if you have any sense (competence) you look to see what has made others succeed or fail in the domain you intend to enter. I therefore suggest that before seeking any Mk1A orders ex-India, efforts are made to ensure that the manifold defects in the Indian military complex do not condemn the exercise to failure.

A small order to enable the supplier to force through changes of thinking and process to give excellent end user support would be extremely useful to India IMO. Equally, finding a way of contending with existing impediments to performance that could not be removed and in spite of those impediments, still giving excellent end user support would be extremely useful.

Tejas will use sub sonic cruise missiles, why not develop long range air launched sub sonic cruise missiles? Till when we will do honeymoon with BrahMos?

My thought process exactly...

Plus Myanmar is acquiring Su-30, so there's pressure on BD (although might work against a light fighter like Tejas). IMO, we need to get Flying Bullets to an exercise with them & fuck them like they've haven't been fucked since '71!.. I'm sure Tejas with jammer should have no trouble BVRing some Migs.
Bangladesh Airforce is no match for Myanmar who have better equipment. With Bangladesh, vintage F-7's and smoky Mig-29's all they got. Tejas can give them a good defense against invaders but they seriously need to have some heavyweight platforms like Mig-35 or Su-30s which can push the battle into the enemy sky.

An enemy formation of FC-1's and SU-30's will easily overpower anything that they have now in their inventory.

That's what CATS missiles, Nirbhay ALCM (ground nirbhay is 1500kg), RudraM-2 (<1000kg estimated), possible LFRJ missile comes in... People are too obsessed with Brahmos-NG.

Yes, it is not a overhype but we should not be over dependent on BrahMos as its Ramjet is still imported, even if majority are Indian components, our weapons atleast should be 100% indigenous.

Since its weight sits around 700kg, would be a nice option!
It's a good option , but thing is exocets in Indian inventory are the submarine launched versions. So it doesn't make sense to induct a new varient , when DRDO air launch sub sonic cruise missile is under development which also comes in a anti ship role.

But having said that if any customers want exocet can be ported. But there is no such requirement from Indian airforce AFAIK.

Any idea how close this is to being tested, sir?

So...? China shared tech with Pakistan as well and their purpose was to counter India as well. Pakistan shared tech with NK as well. I have read somewhere that we bought our first pressure water reactor from Canada as well. Do we owe or have some appreciation towards Canada for that? Nada, niet.

Countries do things what they believe are in their interests. Once the situation changes, they also changed their ways.

If you look closely, each of US enemies have bad reputation in the world. Iran, North Korea, China, Russia. Some are artificially designed and are maligned so they appear as threat to normal countries. There is an entire ecosystem where if one country is perceived as enemy of US. Entire western world forms a coalition against that world.

In that aspect, us giving weapons to such a country is just throwing eggs in a stone and hope it breaks.

There are much better ways to counter US one at a time. Just like how China is trying to.... Piece by piece.
Usa is countering itself without any outside help with stupid woke ideological strategic blunders in key institutions and that will only gain pace with the current administration.they will decline even if china does not exist.china was just a surprising pressure that they did not fully understand or account for.this is also done not taking into account for the various suspected collusions by some powerful us elites with the CCP admin.

Seriously 70 percent of undermining of usa power has usa and west origins only and not china or India's doing.we are just running along as it suits us and we exploit them because they beg us to do so.all this woke shit was not germinated and propagated by china or india.it originated in their stupid woke institutions and organisations.the chinese are just boosting them recently as they are paying dividends.

Basically usa is a giant with clay foot with a ticking time bomb on its back.

Did you hear the recent news about Biden admin ordering a complete all departments military standdown for 60 days for the purpose of dealing with InStItUtIoNaL rAcIsM.can you believe that ,the so called premier military force of the world ordering a standdown while china is waiting on the wings to pounce.

Seriously usa is just becoming a typical european nation in terms of power projection and balls to conduct offensive missions.they are just bigger and richer in terms of budget and have a legacy of being a global force with lots of legacy equipment and it always seems like their military is kept as a tradition and not as a useful tool of survival.they can only seem to attack countries that are really overmatched in terms of capability like Iraq or Iran and the like.
