Would expanding the role of ADA suffice, as far as things go it has a decent reputation and work.
If not full integrations they can do the job of contributing more to the sub system while keep on adding to their Infrastructure and Intellectual resources.

The only entities that are in the aeronautical fields are HAL, ADA,NAL.
Private companies do not have any capability as of now Mahindra is only supplying OEMs to British aerospace and Tata has just begun to formulate it's aerospace sector venture.

They will. All the big players want to be lead integrators. Its pathetic foreign OEMs are the ones leveraging them in this regard, not DRDO.

HAL to provide IAF with 83 Tejas fighters in Rs 39k cr deal

NEW DELHI: The biggest deal in the indigenous military aviation sector has been finalised, with the overall cost of IAF acquiring 83 single-engine Tejas fighters and their support package from defence PSU Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) being slashed from the earlier around Rs 56,500
crore to Rs 39,000 crore.

The over Rs 17,000 crore reduction in overall cost has come after hard-nosed negotiations spread over a year. The defence ministry and IAF were initially shocked at the “exorbitant price” being demanded by HAL to produce the 83 Tejas Mark-1A jets along with the maintenance and infrastructure package.

“With the contract price now settled at Rs 39,000 crore, the procurement file is being sent to the Cabinet Committee on Security for final nod. It should be cleared before this fiscal ends on March 31. Once the contract is inked, HAL promises to begin deliveries of the Mark-1A jets in three years,” said a source.

It was in November 2016 that the Defence Acquisitions Council had first approved the procurement of 83 Tejas jets at a cost of Rs 49,797 crore. But HAL had responded with a quote of around Rs 56,500 crore, which led to protracted cost negotiations. “HAL, for instance, was even charging profit on imported components. Item by item, the cost was brought down. IAF also cut down some of its support requirements,” said the source.

Down to just 30 fighter squadrons (each has 18 jets) when at least 42 are required for the requisite deterrence against Pakistan and China, the IAF is banking upon the long-delayed light combat aircraft
Tejas to make up the free fall in numbers.

The first four Rafale fighters will touch down at Ambala airbase in May, with the remaining 32 following in batches by April 2022 under the Rs 59,000 crore deal inked with France in September 2016. But the slow production rate of the home-grown Tejas fighters by HAL, much like its protracted development saga, remains a major concern for IAF.

The IAF’s ‘Flying Daggers’ squadron at Sulur has till now inducted only 16 of the original 40 Tejas Mark-1 fighters, which were all slated for delivery by December 2016 under two contracts worth Rs 8,802 crore inked earlier.

The 83 Tejas Mark-1A fighters are slated to have 43 “improvements” over the Mark-1 jets to improve maintainability, AESA (active electronically scanned array) radar to replace existing mechanically-steered radar, air-to-air refuelling, long-range BVR (beyond visual range) missiles and advanced electronic warfare to jam enemy radars and missiles.
“The flight testing for Tejas Mark-1A will hopefully be completed by 2022. After these 123 fighters, the IAF is also looking to induct 170 Tejas Mark-2 or the MWF (medium weight fighter) jets with more powerful engines and advanced avionics,” another source said.

But the Tejas Mark-2 and the indigenous stealth fifth-generation fighter aircraft called the advanced medium combat aircraft (AMCA) will take several years to fructify. For now, IAF is keeping its fingers crossed the Tejas Mark-1A does not get delayed any further.

Indranil (brf) says

Delivery of 4 was not possible. First flight of the first 4 was targeted. I don't know if that will be achieved either. Frankly, I don't know what is holding up the first flight of SP21.it can happen tomorrow for all we know. SP22 must have finished equipping as well. I expect SP22 and SP21 to take to the air in quick succession.

Why you keep quoting BRF? Its not a news source site or a journalist. Why their opinion has more value than any of ours? Even I visit BRF everyday but I don't copy paste their stuff, if you are so fixated with BRF stay there. Had this been some other forum you'd be banned outright. Please stop copy pasting unverifiable source - those who want to can read at BRF too.

Typical case of exoticism, people tends to value other things over their own.

Bdw I am confused with the max speed-mentioned 1.6 mach.
The chart is wrong. MTOW is 13.5tonn and it says 9.9tonn.

Sorry if I sound rude but this is not the first time I told you not to do so. Why do think BRF has more value than DFI?

We all love Tejas thats why are taking out time to post about it. That journalist is partly right, IFR was meant for Mk1a and not for FOC but to compensate for loss of time and other handouts, IFR was brought forward to FOC.

The point of posting in DFI is to promote DFI and not BRF. I was a mod at a very big website thats why I am telling you that you'd be banned in some other forum. No need to get antsy, accept the mistake and rectify it.

@Bleh Bravo! Some standards you have. You were lecturing me on providing facts (even though I provided govt source) but turn nelson's eye when other post unverifiable facts. Claps.

I don't know anyone else noticed some point's from Time of India article, so it says the contract is moved to Cabinet Committee on Security, which literally means it got OK from IAF side now Mod section have to make it formal and relse the subsequent funds ( correct me if am wrong ) so in my assumption the deal is kind of informally signed ? Any one else have better knowledge in Indian procurement police's plz enlighten me

It's definitely not "fact" but unverified information... Any info is welcome from whatever source, some are just more reliable than others, like him or our porky_kicker & Unknowncommando.
Much better than trolling & shitposting that's 50% of DFI.

No offence, but you don't get to tell what other people will do. If you don't like it that's your problem.
