You are wrong.

Mk1 orders of 40 units includes 32 single seat and 8 double seat. Only 16 single seat are delivered.
Mk1A orders of 73 units - 0 delivered so far.

Significant orders have been given. Orders is not an issue.

How will govt order if you cannot deliver????
1. Initially, the order was for 20 ioc and 20 foc. It was later modified to 16 ioc and 24 foc.
2. All timelines were tentative, with a presumption that enough orders are in place.
3. Foc only given in Jan 19. Hal did not have mandate to proceed for foc till cleared.
4. Mk1a has not yet been ordered. Only when a contract is signed, work will proceed.
5. It will take atleast 3 years from order, to first flight.
6. Till then, only 24 more aircraft are pending. For that, there is no need to increase capacity.

Mk1a order has not been placed. Currently only 40mk1 are on order out of which 16 have been delivered. For the rest 16 foc + 8 trainer only it makes no sense to make additional investment.

If IAF seriously wants planes faster it should place follow on order of 40 mk1 foc and sign contract for 83 mk1a immediately.

Then HAL can invest into additional production line and ramp up production.

The quality of discussion has really fallen in this thread. Coupled with no development on the Tejas project.
Most people tend to think that the "Commitment" for 83 Tejas mk1A has already turned into an order. No it hasnt.
Sitaraman is a failure , BJP is a failure. Now left to see what Rajnath Singh has to do.
We are still stuck with an order of just 40, and with that rolling out 6-8 Tejas a year is thankful.

I will not comment on HAL's performance as the ball is in the IAF's court right now. So unless they put in the official contract, nothing can be commented about HAL.

You are not aware and you are assuming stuff. Orders can be given if HAL shows it can deliver. What is the point of giving orders when it cannot deliver.

You guys are confused about basic things. An order to HAL is not a big deal. It is not like a tender where evaluation takes several years. HAL is under MOD and an order is a mere formality.

Anyway let's see how it goes. I am pessimistic about performance of HAL. It is highly inefficient and highly politicized organization.

I will blame HAL after the orders are given and it still cant deliver.

are they still beleiving the Tejas MK1 is suits our IAF needs or suits the current threat that IAF facing from PAF and PLAAF

1. PAF gonna get a AESA in all JF 17 , Range beyond 250 km
2. all JF 17 gonna recieve the PL 15 missiles

so look at the adversary 250 km Radar range plus 100- 200 km range BVR capability

How IAF will counter PAF , with supa dupa HAL Tejas with 200 km radar range with 70-100 km range BVR , get some relaity peoples

technology moving so faster

Pl15 need to be a addition for jf17 block 3 mostly, I never seen block 1 or 2 with pl15 it's gigantic missile also klj7 don't have support range to shoot it ( only pics in circulation from peedf are photoshopped)

Also abt mk1 both jf17 bk 1 and 2 lags so behind it, hmd advanced FCS, better missiles, iderbi- is counter to pl15 in some way, also if we want we can integrate Russian bvr too

we always under estimate our enemy's isn't, Just some upgrades in their existing JF 17 may carry those PL 15

Instrumental range is not a fighter tracking range. Aperture size, power output, radar gain are lot more important than publications.

1.PL-15 hasn't been permitted for export...so no PL-15E so far... JF-17 block3 would only get new WVR AA missile (PL-10E is the most possible).

2. two competitors of block3 AESA radar never have the ability of so called 250km class detection range , unless it means the sea surface target. normally we think the look-up detection range(5m2 RCS) is around 150km class for this size AESA radar and certainly the look-down range would be closer...
BTW, the such big PESA radar on Su30MKI/MKM could only claim a detection range of over 140km(for 3m2 RCS air target)

Not at all, underestimating our enemy's, nope pl15 need greater range radar like aesa , not current version on BLK 1 & 2 fire it even they integrate it it's a much more modern missile with 2 way data links and aesa seekers so with limited range jf17 fires it's after 60 or 70 km it goes pit Bull and may cause friendly fire ,I don't think porkis are that much stupid,

Yes it is, plz don't drag Feb 27 drma here and why we don't fire r77 , AIM 120 have mod called lock afte launch it basically fire missile with out lock and track the first target it sees, but it is so useless against su30 at long range, rather than wasting ur missile for crowd cntrl use it for assured kill always make senses

Way superior....PL15 is as effective as SD10 and we saw their effectiveness when porki air force tried to intrude indian air space and they choose american made f16 over their chinki made jf17 for air cover.
