Seriously??????????????????????????
We can expect the production of MK1-A from 2024 onwards and this way there will be no gap between MK1-A and MK-2 as you were talking about yesterday

We really need those110 MMRCA.

First flight of LCA Tejas Mk.1A will be in 2022, says HAL. Our detailed report on the type:
Shame on these loosers. You are not doing any substantial change. AESA you choose is already integrated with Jaguar. Only EW in cooperation is to be developed and integrated. They are giving dates after dates. Initially they said that It will happen in 2019 now straightway three years added cold blooded. Government should take away this project from these loosers and give it to private players like TATAs. This is simply playing with National security.

And what experience does TATA have to integrate such sophisticated fighter platforms?

TATA delivers chasis of APACHE and other top class Choppers. TATA makes plane chasis. Even if TATA takes same time as HAL, it is good to go for TATA as TATA will do similar work very fast next time. HAL will never improve. They will always delay.

Yes you can say that. A light weight turret was to be developed for Arjun. Ch***ya government OF gave a very long time frame and decided to for a tender to Private parties. Reliance defense got contract. They made it and gave 6 months prior to the date by which it was to be submitted. Perhaps the current order which OF got from IA is because that work done by Reliance defense. Had these Ch****as done it themselves, It would have taken couple of more years.

2022 is too late a date. Improvements going into MK-1A has only one thing left that is AESA which is yet to be tested. LSP-8 is being converted into MK-1A TD as we speak. MK-1 production will be completed by 2020 end or 2021 begining with first 16 getting delivered by march and SP-21 by October 2019. logically it should not take that long.......I believe first production model will have its maiden flight in 2022. Not a prototype.

You just can't compare fabricating some parts to integrating a whole fighter aircraft. There is no other company in India whether it is PSU or private sector other than HAL having the capability to do so.

I didn't expect Mk1A to stretch out that far.......thought it might be sometime in 2020 at the worst!
I am not surprised because I haven't heard of any development regarding MK1A other than choosing AESA radar and Electronic warfare suite and no news of it's integration to the airframe. They haven't even declared whether they will use an existing LSP or a new airframe to integrate those systems.

First flight of LCA Tejas Mk.1A will be in 2022, says HAL. Our detailed report on the type:
This appears to be a strategic decision rather than real capabilities deficiency. India wants to keep assembly line busy to maintain expertise but without producing suboptimal plane of LCA (Mk1 & Mk1A). Instead the intention is only to maintain expertise so that teething effect will be minimal when MWF is manufactured

The Mk1A is MK1 with some peripheral addition like gun, AESA, few software upgrade etc. These things are not major enough to warrant delay. India already has made progress in these segment too and hence very little technical delay is possible.

India appears to be trying to ensure that MK1-MK1A-MWF are manufactured continually without any discontinuation. So, according to timeline of MWF, the timeline of MK1A will be varied. It is likely that the assembly line will be only for 8 planes a year for next 3 years. IAF strength will be maintained by Su30 in meantime

But you should expect a half decade on integrating a nee radar (Already integrated on other plane) and putting EW and making some small changes. Hates off to HAL as well as to you.

Actually Hats off to people like you who have such unrealistic expectations even after following defence affairs for more or less a decade.

Do you remember we had a chat on PDF in 2014-15 where you were claiming that MK2 will fly by 2015 and I told you to bookmark your own post and quote me in 2015 if it happens?

This kind of unreasonable expectations make fans like you disappoint more often than not and the problem is you don't learn from that and always come up with even claims like you are expecting with the likes of TATA.

This is bullshit. Delivery in 2029 is unlikely. It will be completed mich earlier. If production is started in 2023, then whatwill HAL produce in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022? The production rate at 8 per year means 32 planes will be produced. 16 has already been produced by FY19. So, will 48 MK1 be produced? Also, since MK1A is an upgrade, why will it need first flight at all? First flight will also be first production in upgrades. Only new development requires separate first flight and production. So from FY22 itself the production of MK1A will begin. It will be produced till FY26 at 16 per year.

Tejas MK2 will be produced from FY27 (mid 2026 or later). This is the timeline told from the beginning - Tejas MK2 will get FOC by 31 December 2025.

For some time, IAF leadership had decided to put personal interests before that of the country. One former chief was found connected to a foreign chopper scam and another to foreign trainer aircrafts scam.
This calls for restructuring the leadership. IAF has to be cut down to size. Start creating theater commands. Transfer ownership of combat helicopters to army.
The biggest hurdle creators to implement CDS & Theatre Command are the higher-ups of IAF. They create problems because once Theatre Command structure is implemented, they will loose their importance (largest share in Defence Procurement Budget goes to IAF).

Solution is to divide IAF between IA & IN. Air can be either above land or sea, it can not exist otherwise. Hence, divide the air assets accordingly between IA & IN.

So you are basically claiming that since this is a single vendor situation, 6 months weren't required for evaluation? Do you have anything to support this claim? Any best practices or actual examples from anywhere else in the World? Or have you evaluated single vendor tenders yourself?
Please note that this order is worth over 7 billion.
Please note that IAF is not procuring from foreign vendor. Source & Destination of this 7 billion fund are same, Govt of India.

In such case, where the client & the vendor are govt agencies, rules prescribed by Finance Ministry neither mandate a minimum evaluation period nor prohibits the client to accept vendor's offer.

It's clear that IAF is trying to create hurdles in procurement of LCA Mk 1A.

"The navy has encashed bank guarantees of debt-ridden Reliance Naval and Engineering Limited (RNEL) after the company overshot the deadline by four years for the naval offshore patrol vessels project. This was announced on Monday by Navy chief Admiral Sunil Lanba, who was responding to queries on whether action has been taken against the Anil Ambani-promoted company."

Private defense companies are better as sales than government ones for not very Noble reasons.
