Hmmm..It's the only base that operates Tejas aircraft.
Based on above, weights of some future missiles:-
This is what I was saying. Nothing is going to change. It's already been 6 years and I guess it is an ample amount of time for TACDE to formulate tactics for Tejas.
There won't be permanent deployment untill tactics are formulated and formations are fixed. Sulur is the home base for Tejas. Any new Tejas squadron formed will be operated from sulur and temporary deployed to their squadron base if needed only (symbolic). Also IAF has to ramp up respective base infra to host Tejas permanently. Even sulur doesn't have adequate infra to host multiple squadronsThis is what I was saying. Nothing is going to change. The only base that operates LCA. Looks like the news of it being deployed on the western front was false.

Or they are formulating already but for focThere won't be permanent deployment untill tactics are formulated and formations are fixed. Sulur is the home base for Tejas.
Noob question but please bear with me:
Has TACDE formulated tactics for the newly inducted Rafale?
Rafales are being deployed against the Chinese. They were recently used as well but TACDE is unable to formulate tactics for Tejas which has been inducted for 6 years and IAF is unable to upgrade bases to host them. Why such step-motherly treatment for an aircraft that was handicrafted from inputs of IAF officers?
IAF has major plans for Sulur. They are planning to make it the biggest base in the south. Even AMCA development was planned here in Sulur with a private JV. AMCA would also be based here initially
yeah, this could be one of the reasons. AFAIK, FOC was given in 2018 right?Or they are formulating already but for foc
When we bought the Rafale we also bought the training from Rafale so the pilots are already trained with French tactics. As for Indian tactics with Rafale, they will also come up, in time, that I am sure. There won't be permanent deployment untill tactics are formulated and formations are fixed. FOC aircraft inducted much later, though.yeah, this could be one of the reasons. AFAIK, FOC was given in 2018 right?
In the absence of a better source-Since 2018, they have been planning to deploy Tejas at frontlines but to no avail.
I sincierly hope that Tejas sees some action and get chances to participate in international exercises
When it is rotated to a forward air base it is operationally deployed for that duration- not just for photo op.Two Squadrons of Tejas Mk1 jets are based out of South Indian states and are frequently deployed at the forward airbase for familiarization sorties when there is heightened tension at the border.
Hmmm..
Tejas's squadron has not been moved to the frontline, however, temporary detachments have been stationed in northern and western sectors. This is what I was saying. Nothing is going to change. When normally, we buy any foreign jet, operational tactics are often part of the deal, even pro-bono sometimes. So, as part of IAF pilots getting training for flying Rafales in France, they bring operational tactics, so developing IAF-specific tactics becomes optional. There won't be permanent deployment untill tactics are formulated and formations are fixed. Sulur is the home base for Tejas.

Thank You@vidhwanshak kindly calm down.

As for why the whole squadron has not been moved yet, I remember someone answering that aptly, the reason is not that IAF considers Tejas as its step-child, but because of logistical & engineering reasons. Sulur provides close access to ADA and HAL expertise in case something goes wrong, which will be not uncommon for a newly-developed aircraft.
Temporary detachments are not unheard of, and it does not mean that IAF is shy of deploying them on the frontline. For example, Mirage-2000s are based out of Gwalior, which is almost the centermost point of India. Does that mean IAF doesn't trust Mirage-2000s?
Mirage-2000s are frequently sent on temporary detachments to Ambala AFS and Leh AFS to cater to Northern sector requirements.
Ok, let me throw you something interesting,
This is LCA Tejas forward-deployed on Suratgarh AFS.

Also, it is pertinent to note that every weapon's characteristics, sensor suite, as well as communication, plays role in influencing tactics. For example, switching from R-73 to Python-5 AAM, or Derby to Astra BVR will significantly change how Tejas will engage enemy jets.
