Rafale - 230 mil $ with out tot
F 15 ID - 380 mil $ with out tot
Mirage upgrade comes with overhaul tech, etc.
And all these aircrafts comes with weapons and service support, custom modifications etc and plus spares for new ones and mk1a costs 60++ million $ [su 30mki] not 40+ million $ considering mirage/rafale.
Also mk2 mwf replace m2k, not mk1a.

Independence has a cost.Secondly who is stopping india from investing in education especially in applied sciences ,creative mathematics and real problem solving based practical education instead of wasting money on buying mlas and mps and their pensions.

During Mahatir's Pak orgy I had read that Malaysian palm oil is crude while Indonesian oil is refined which is preferred as Indian edible palm oil refinery is limited.

Still India is in advantageous position to others as we can take oil for payment as we buy similar quality anyways. Never thought that our oil dependance would work in our favour.

Shed this mentality of criticizing everything that is Islamic, Malaysia is way more progressive as you may know. If India has to become an Asian power then people like you will have to control your communal thoughts and keep it out of the technical threads. Don't spoil the thread.
The deal is win-win situation as the real threat for both the countries is the communist and expansionist PRC.
This deal will make LCA the hotcake in light aircraft category and soon other orders will follow.

Thats the standard price of a Rafale purchased with so many India specific enhancements.
The contract specifies the ISE upgrades to be carried out in India by DRAL

I think much of it has to do with the 'tradition' and 'culture' of our armed forces which are more british than the current british forces. There is probably a crying need to de-racinate the upper brass and maybe the officer training methodology (being a gentleman etc.. etc..)

There is something to Modi’s ‘New India’ rhetoric. The new generations of Indians don’t have this inherent self loathing inferiority complex, they believe they can do things.

Sadly the senior brass civilian and military are all from the old school British self hate generation and most will have such views whereby they’ll criticise Indian projects simply because they don’t have a made in France/Isreal sticker on them.

The more I learn about LCA and a few other Indian projects the more it’s clear to me they were set up to fail. The reason it doesn’t feel like there’s a plan to get these things into service on a mass scale is because there was never such a plan.

these geniuses asked for a 4th generation FBW fighter that could fit into the exact same HAS as their MiG-21s. The same geniuses that will fly over water without self inflating flotation devices or even life vests/water escape training, that will fly their PM and CDS in utility spec Mi-17s without LIRCM,EGPWS or even self sealing fuel tanks (anyone remember those horrific images of the CDS crash, at low speed there was still next to nothing left of the bird.

It’s so hard to listen to them when they will only criticise Indian equipment but excuse/praise their ‘workhorse’ imported toys.

Because I am a supporter of coconut farmers Kerala and Tamilnadu and their problems. I know how centres palm oil imports gonna harm farmers in Kerala and Tamilnadu and I am well aware of Malaysian atitude towards India,so it's not a communal thought it's a sad reality till they protecting sakir nayik like anti India extremists and their religious hatred comments against India in different defence forum's.Sorry for spoiling the thread.

Just pure nonsense, imagine if some clowns applied the same logic with the MK1A deal (entire project cost/units= unit cost)

+ as for ISE, the upgrades are being made as per the agreed schedule

The Indian govt isn’t stupid. There will be considerations made for such things and they’ll be accounted for.

And the world can’t be black and white when you’re a global power. You have to protect your interests , the world is a complicated place and it’s not you’re with us or against us. High tech exports are worth their weight in gold to India and its even a way of creating more Indian sympathisers in Malaysia.

If their frontline jets are Indian they’ll be hugely exposed to india at a strategic and industrial level,5,10,15 years down the line those low level guys will be the leaders.
