i think people are confused between block 1 and 2 which were junk. block 3 for it's price and features, it's fine.
Block 1 was pretty much a 3rd Generation Aircraft from my personal opinion, Block 2 was a bit better though and it's a fact.
JF 17 Block 1 had:
A Top speed of 1,296 km/h
A Range of 3,482 km
A Weight of 6,586 kg ,
Wingspan of 9.45 meters and it used Klimov RD-33 as it's Engine.
JF-17 Block 1 https://g.co/kgs/dfXNCo
Block 2 was a better upgrade to Block 1 and you could say was comparable to Tejas Mk1 in some categories.
Block 3 is a pretty decent Aircraft for its price considering what you get from the Overall package in terms of Avionics, Sensors, Weopons (even though I am doubtful of Chinese Equipment quality)
With Tejas M1A we shall have Uttam AESA and DRDO/DARE Unified EW suite.
When you are saying DRDO/DARE unified EW suite, Are you referring to the Use of Mayavi EW(Electronic WarFare)Suit in Tejas?

DRDO/DARE unified EW suite is an follow-on to Mayavi EW.
Its comprises of tightly integrated of Uttam AESA Radar, DCMAWS, Digital RWR and Airborne Self Protection Jamming Pod.

Oh wow! Ok! Thanks for telling me this. I was not Aware of it at First. I was only aware of Mayavi EW (Electronic WarFare) suite.
And not with Regards to DRDO/DARE unified EW suite.

What is this used for?
It's a Radar warning Receiver(RWR)Bro. So the Question should be 'what is RWR used for?'
Radar warning receiver (RWR) systems detect the radio emissions of radar systems. primary purpose of RWR is to issue a warning when a radar signal that might be a threat is detected, like a fighter aircraft's fire control radar.
The warning can then be used, manually or automatically, to evade the detected threat.
RWR systems can be installed in all kind of airborne, sea-based, and ground-based assets such as aircraft, ships, automobiles, military bases.

What is this used for?
It is used to identify type of radar, its direction, range and approach.
Its is used to inform the pilot if his plane is being targeted for engagement using radar guided missiles.

being a passive sensor, it can improve pilot's situation awareness along with with sensors.

In unified EW suites, input from RWR can be fed to DRDO Airborne Self Protection Jamming Pod for threat response.

So these digital receivers are components of RWR, and a larger MAWS?
I believe that's the Case. All of these Systems are part of something else which together add up to make a more complex System.

Hoping to see MAWS(Missile Approach Warning System) Integrated in our Sukhoi su-30 MKI fleet of Aircraft. It's a Necessity. Hopefully under Super Sukhoi it will happen (pretty sure it will happen)
Its up to IAF. We have developed necessary system and with Su-30MKI we have an advantage that mission computer is ours along with the source code.
I don't think it will be much of an issue. Calibrating IR senor system may take time.

Yeah. You are right about that though.
Hopefully Indian Airforce knows what they are doing here. If Indian airforce does go for This MAWS(Missile Approach Warning System) than it will be good news overall.
May take some time somewhat to Materialize into Reality but hope it does. All our SU-30 MKI Aircraft fleet is in Urgent need of MAWS
