So first MK1 FOC flight was precondition for MK1A order? We were unnecessarily ranting about MoD babus etc?

#HAL is expected to roll out the first #TejasMK1A fighter #SP41 during 2022-2023 period. As this tweet flies out, the contract is getting fine-tuned (T&C between #IAF-#HAL). Each new fighter will cost around Rs 300 cr and LCA Tejas Division has now become #HAL's torchbearer.

Anticipating #TejasMK1A orders, #HAL Board had sanctioned orders to initiate action for procurement of raw materials and outsourcing of items a while back. The planning for these long-lead items will save tremendous time and making production smoother. @akananth

This one is causing heartburn. So..posting it for all the screamers again.
DAC approves 83 MK1A..
Now, CCS is left. That is never the problem.

FYI - Single engine fighters will not be imported. It is all twin engine fighters now. You can outrage if you want to.

They'll be upgraded after the FOC batch is complete, when they're making trainers and this line is free. Hasn't happened yet. Source, BRF.

LCA Tejas is pretty much our equivalent of the Chinese J 10, in terms of rationale for design and production. A cheap single engine 4th gen fighter, meant to be produced in large numbers as the "low" component in a high-low mix of fighters. (I'm aware Tejas program started before J 10). The Chinese have produced 350 J 10's of various versions, while we have produced 18 Tejas till now. Forget about equipping their own air force, they wanted to equip their client state Pakistan with cheap fighters, so they have additionally produced 140 JF 17's till now and allowed the pakis to call it a pakistani aircraft.

In the face of all of this, IAF makes issues about Tejas, and HAL keeps delaying it. It has been delayed once again now. Look at the big picture. They have produced a grand total of 490 fighters for themselves and their client state, while we produced 18. And then we cry about not having enough fighters. This is pathetic.
J 10 is a shit. Those who compares J 10 with Tejas must know how many of them have fallen from sky till date. I do not know the latest figure but atleast 9 had fallen in 2 years. J 10 uses powerful Al 31 engine yet it takes longer time to be airborn. It uses AESA but that is way inferior than Uttam in its initial stage. J 10 had a very poor aerodynamics which were improved in J 10 C.

On the other hand , Tejas is a state of art Aircraft and all set to improve in its MK1+ avatar. It has many state of art technologies with best electronics (Either it has or about to come) and best weapons. Tejas can see J10 first and shoot it first. In close combat too, Tejas will beat J 10. I do not see any advantage of J 10 over Tejas except TVC and a bit of higher payload due to very powerful engine and aircraft of medium category.
