Pakis are making a rapid stride in evolving its platform but ours are stuck with tetsing and delays.
If the rate continues they may have a more established aircraft inventory.
How can Porkis take rapid strides and with what technology? They can get some Chinese outdated cheap material/ technology. What is there in JF 17? It is a cheap outdated junk.

The aim of JF 17 is not technical superiority, they are just force multiplier.
And they have 100+ of these and increasing production rate each year, while ours are nowhere to be found.
What is the use of so much technology when u can't even fill up a sqaudron or two within a year.

From the videos publicly available maneuverability doesn't look that poor at all. The Chinks created a perfect ultimate Mig-21.
The aim of JF 17 is not technical superiority, they are just force multiplier.
And they have 100+ of these and increasing production rate each year, while ours are nowhere to be found.
What is the use of so much technology when u can't even fill up a sqaudron or two within a year.
With Pakistani operational F-16 numbers down to a few dozens & with more outdated tech than blk-iii, Jf-17 is hardly a "force multiplier" anymore. And if platform is decent it can be upgraded with new tech, quality of Chinese tech & weather Pakistani can afford better is another question though.

As of now, its greatest weakness vis-a-vis Tejas & Rafale is the big RCS, that'll be a severe disadvantage in BVR combat.

0.5 m^2 isn't bad at all, we don't even know RCS of JF 17 but its probably higher comapred to Tejas as they dont employ much Carbon composite.

That's what I said, Jf-17's RCS is a weakness for it against Rafale & Tejas (an improving feature of Mark1A is its RCS so that one can be even stealthier).

Jf-17 is almost similarly built as Mig-21, with no RCS reducing features other than probably a better RAM coating and the intakes. Its will be atleast 2m².

These all projects will only complete until BJP is in power otherwise congress will cancel or delay all of then in favour of imports, dalali and corruption.
Modi is favouring indigeneous capability in such a way that it is causing heart attacks to lobbyists and media houses. That's why there are lot of fake news being spreaded these days and in coming years it will only intensify.

Girish Deodhare, chief of the Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) has confirmed that MWF-Mk2 will come equipped with indigenously developed Uttam AESA radar from the start from 2022 when the aircraft will be rolled out for its first flight in 2023, he also confirmed that even though India’s state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) has placed orders for ELM-2052 AESA fire control radars along with pod-mounted ELL-8222W (wideBand) self-protection jamming pod from Israeli’s ELTA, there is scope that Uttam will also be equipped on Tejas Mk-1A.

Deodhare also said that Uttam AESA Fire control Radar (FCR) which has been flying onboard LSP-2 has completed 11 successful test flights and within a couple of more years of flight testing it will be certified and it will be ready for production and will be available to be equipped on Tejas Mk-1A.

HAL officials have informed idrw.org that a deal for 83 ELM-2052 FCR and ELL-8222W EW Jamming pod have been ordered and will be equipped on the first lot of Tejas Mk-1A aircraft but there is also understanding between with IAF and DRDO that later batches might come equipped with indigenously developed Uttam AESA radar instead of ELTA’s ELM-2052 FCR.

idrw.org was able to track down an original agreement between HAL and ELTA and according to other information revealed to us, ELTA will be supplying 24 ELM-2052 FCR in a fully assembled configuration and 8 additional will come in kit form which will be locally assembled by HAL technicians under supervision of the ELTA back in Bengaluru so the contract is only for 32 units but there is provision for local assembly with some level of transfer of technology which comes when order is bigger so local production may or not happen depending on the availability of the indigenously developed Uttam AESA radar.

While HAL and ADA, officials won’t confirm how many Tejas Mk-1A units will come equipped with ELM-2052 FCR and Uttam FCR for the time being it likely that first 32 Tejas Mk-1A aircraft which will go into construction will be equipped with ELM-2052 FCR and 51 from the later batch will come equipped with Uttam FCR if it is ready for production somewhere around 2024-25 which DRDO feels can be accomplished.

The finance wing of India’s Defence Ministry with the Indian Air Force negotiated with the government-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited and got the price of the 83 Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) reduced by more than Rs 10,000 crores in New Delhi today, December 18.


Long Wait ::

The original price of the 83 Tejas Mark-1A was stipulated at Rs 50,035 crores. This deal was made final by the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) in November 2016, when the biggest decision-making body in the Defence Ministry approved the IAF to purchase these aircraft at the original price.


Defence sources told ANI that: "The draft contract of the deal has been readied by the HAL and the cost of the deal has now come down to around Rs 40,000 crore. This is Rs 10,000 crore less than the Acceptance of Necessity given by the Defence Ministry in 2016.”

Negotiations for the procurement of the 83 LCA have been going on since 2017. The IAF had issued a single-vendor tender to the HAL for the same in 2017, but the deal hasn’t been closed due to issues over the price.


Crossed fingers ::

This is the biggest contract for HAL ever by the defence forces. The Defence Ministry is looking forward to closing the deal during the Defexpo-2019, which is to be held in Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s constituency, Lucknow, in February 2020.

The deal offered in the LCA Mark-1A had not been able to be sealed due to issues over the price. The former Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had formed a committee to investigate and negotiate into the matter. Numerous meetings have been held between HAL and the Defence Ministry’s finance wing since then, and the contract is now in the final stage, just waiting to be inked by the two parties.


Features of the LCA ::

The new LCA will have improved serviceability, faster weapon-loading time, enhanced survivability, a better electronic warfare suite and Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) radar that will enhance it’s capability significantly.

Tejas LCA had been cleared and provided the Final Operational Clearance (FOC) by the Centre for Military Airworthiness and Certification (CEMILAC) earlier this year in Bengaluru during Aero India. The aircraft was also deemed to have longer endurance because it can refuel mid-air.


The IAF had inked a contract for 40 Tejas LCAs with the HAL previously. As many as 18 LCAs have been delivered to the IAF so far from the previous deal and a squadron has been formed in Tamil Nadu’s Sulur town. The 45 total squadrons have participated in various exercises and demonstrations to exhibit its capabilities to the world.

Critics say that the Indian Air Force should drop its plan to make more Tejas Mark-2s and focus on AMCA fighter jets. The Tejas AF Mark 2 MWF is an enhanced version of the Tejas Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) and the purchase of these aircraft are called ‘a bad bet’. As published in a reputable news website, the fourth generation Medium Weight Fighter (MWF) is a bad bet as it will probably be ready by the end of next decade. Mwf program cannot be cancelled as it will replace the mirage and jaquar and air force requires max aircrafts to maintain squadron. it is a typical hit job by lobbyists As they are already saying to drop amca because we dont have capabilties.

We shall fill. Wait for some time. Once it is lined up properly, Production rate will Zoom. The cheap Junk Chinese fighter can notbe compared with that of ours.

It was officially released that both RCS & weight were to be reduced, but I've always said that it won't be high as 1000kg reduction like rumoured before.
They are adding way too much tech to machine for that... Would be lucky if the weight doesn't increase instead.

Why Probably. It is not designed considering RCS unlike tejas which is optimized for lowest RCS under aerodynamic constrains. Tejas uses Composites which JF 17 doesn't use. It takes almost double time to take off inspite of very big LAVCON. Its maneuverability and T/W ratio is poor. JF 17 pilot tried to copy Tejas in air show and could mangw the vertical fligt for 1 second only and that by its kinetic energy. Tejas' pilot could fly it vertically for mor more than 10 second to about 20 second. Vertical loop timing of tejas is <20 second and horizantal looping is about 23 second which is reduced to less than 20 second Mk1+ with aerodynamic improvement. Many such changes are coming in Tejas in all front including weight, Aerodynamic, RCS and electronics. Bunder is improving in Electronic only. Those improvements too are with junk Chinese electronics.

They are adding way too much tech to machine for that... Would be lucky if the weight doesn't increase instead.
I have read somewhere that cables weighs about 400 kg in Tejas. It can be reduced to 200 kg. Now it this is done, cable alone can reduce weight by 200 kg. Some LRUS were over engineered on conservative side. Which can lose weight. landing gear is also over engineered. Its weight can also reduce. There with some 6% of drag reduction which will push Tejas’s transonic acceleration by some 20% and highest speed by some 2%? Data link for tejas is developed so that it can be in contact with 40 friendly aircraft. Uttam is much better than ELTA 2052. So all building blocks are falling in line except engine. Tejas is getting better and better and more and more indigenous.
