We should give credit where it is due.

Xerxes bridge across the Hellespont:

No. 2310 Xerxes and the Hellespont

With a new batch of engineers more determined than their unhappy predecessors, the bridges were rebuilt. This time each was girded by a combination of flax and papyrus cables. Beaded along the two sets of cables were more than 600 side-by-side triremes serving as pontoons. The triremes, in turn, were, anchored a both ends and spaced far enough part to allow other ships to pass between. Laid from one side of the tethered ships to the other was a roadway, fenced and covered with grass and earth so that "the beasts of burden ... would not look out to the sea below and panic."

The answer lies in the words of this song

One more river and that is the river of Jordan.
one more river
And that is the river to cross!

River crossing come later.

First is to cross the series of parallel Ditch cum bunds and the distributaries.

These parallel DCBs have not been created by Pakistan just for irrigation. It has military connotations.

The closest comparison could be the Bar Lev line.

Country flag
Opposed River Crossing is one of the major operations to be carried out by most of the major armies of the world and Corps of Engineers have that as the major tasks all over.

History of Indian warfare for a major period remained concerned over crossings of the Punjab rivers and changed fortunes of many attackers / defenders.

Pakistani Punjab and Bangladesh still remain major riverines terrains.

Old Noah, he built himself an Ark, there's one more river to cross,
He built it out of hickory bark, there's one more river to cross.

He anchored the Ark to a great big rock, there's one more river to cross,
And then he began to load his stock, there's one more river to cross.

Oh there's one more river, and that's the river Jordan,
There's one mote river, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane one by one, there's one more river to cross,
The elephant chewing a caraway bun, there's one more river to cross.

The animals came two by two, there's one more river to cross,
The crocodile and the kangaroo, there's one more river to cross.

The animals came three by three, there's one more river to cross,
The tall giraffe and the tint flea, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane four by four, there's one more river to cross,
The hippos, they got stuck in the door, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane five by five, there's one more river to cross,
The honey bees looking to build a hive, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane six by six, there's one more river to cross.
The monkey, he was up to his tricks, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane seven by seven, there's one more river to cross,
Said the bear to the elephant "Who are you shovin'?", there's one more river to cross.

The animals came eight by eight,, there's one more river to cross,
Some were early and some were late, there's one more river to cross.

The animals came nine by nine, there's one more river to cross,
They all joined up and marched in a line, there's one more river to cross.

The animals cane ten by ten, there's one more river to cross,
If you want any more then I'll sing it again, there's one more river to cross.
