Dumb question but what s the difference between a Destroyer and a Frigate viz-a-viz Indian Navy scenario, irrespective to the range of the warship. Is it the firepower the weaponry or agility?

Fit the MF-STAR radar(basically) and the Barak-8 in the Shivalik class it will be a very formidable warship with equal delivery wrt Kolkata Class.

We do not need 2 SAMs, since HQ-16(range 50Km) have range covered both short and middle range.

Why HQ-9 doesn't give adequate protection?

what do u mean?

HQ-9(range 120kms) is long range missile, it is not good as Q-16 (50kms)in middle range and HQ-10(9 KMs) in short range.

So by the middle of next year we will have 72 Bramhos out at sea on modern vessels 24 on three Shivaliks and 48 on 3 P15A's.

What about INS Teg, Tarkash and Trikand that also have Bhramos?

When did we include size and cost? Don't add new parameters. Shivalik FYI is 6200 tonnes, much larger than 4053 tonne type 54 A ans Kolkata is 7200 tonnes. But, it was you who started the asymmetric comparison. Now, when proven wrong, why invoke it?

Yes, Shivalik and Kolkata do not have mid-range SAM compare to 054A , don't mention 052CD with HQ-9 long range SAM.
