After a series of mishaps which were unpleasant in quick succession, there is some good news.

Indian navy has to perform dominant role in Indian Ocean region from Suez to Singapore. It is to guard the sea lanes where two third of the commerce flows. Chinese can take over at Singapore to all the way to China sea etc.

Pakistan as a terrorist sympathizer country fits into this equation. Admiral Zumwalt is a two billion dollar ship. It does not come with aid packages.

Why dont you worry about how to stop a Mach 3 Bramhos with outdated 80's tech missile defence on your principle warships before you worry about how India is going to stop some 80's tech subsonic anti ship crap. The effectiveness of a warship is not on its tonnage.

Manoeuvrability, speed and weaponry (but then these are the days of specialist ships) is what one would think makes a formidable warship.

The effectiveness of a warship is not on its tonnage.

Manoeuvrability, speed and weaponry (but then these are the days of specialist ships) is what one would think makes a formidable warship.

Tonnage is important in the sense if we want to make Nuclear powered destroyer like Zumwalt and arm them with cruise and Ballistic missiles.

A single or two destroyers presence can threaten the enemies, these days navies are heading for more tonnage and less number of destroyers.

Amongst these, according to a 2010 CAG report is the Long-Range Surface-to-Air Missile (LR-SAM) that the navy insisted should replace the venerable Russian Kashmir missile system. The LR-SAM shoots down incoming anti-ship missiles (ASMs) at ranges out to 70 kilometres, protecting the ship far more effectively than the Kashmir. But it has only been operationalised now after India's Defence R&D Organisation (DRDO) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), working in partnership, overcame persistent technological challenges. Even so, the Kolkata is being delivered only with missile launchers fitted, while the 64 missiles that form the ship's complement will be added later.

So, it will deliver to INS w/o Brarak-8(range 70 kms).
With Barack -1(range 17 kms) it hard to competed with Chinese 054A frigate which HQ-16 (range 50KM)

According to article, The SAM is ready and Operational in other navy, Its a matter of time the IN ship will be fitted with same system ..

As of now the ship has clear its sea trails and being inducted, Weapon test will be done under service conditions ..

So by the middle of next year we will have 72 Bramhos out at sea on modern vessels 24 on three Shivaliks and 48 on 3 P15A's.

Rajputs with four/eight 1st Gen Bramhos each should be gifted to Vietnam / jointly operated and parked in Cam Rahn Bay for early mobilization Delhi class should come in for a 2 year refit to replace the Switchblade with Bramhos. Right now Rajput class seems more deadly than the Delhi Class.

This can make a tasty Karachi Ka Halwa
