Bihar BJP MP Rajiv Pratap Rudy flies Rafale fighter jet at A ..

"It is a fifth-generation fighter aircraft"
Oh he is an indian politician, why he did God knows.
Most indian politicians don't know the difference between different types of airctafts, that's anyway too much for them.
Once our defense minister called in the field Marshall to make him understand the difference between howitzer and a field gun.
And he was a defence minister
What ever indian politicians say about defense equipment, is biased in the sense that he from the ruling party so he called it fifth generation.
Because his secretary that's what most advanced types of jets are.
If he were from opposition, he would have said meh, the jet is not good at all it has no leg space plus very small size.
Only two people can sit in it.
At maximum, the government is a fool to buy these, and should buy more such jets which can carry more people.
That's why whatever an Indian politician says about any defense equipment whether good or bad should not be given any attention

An underside view of Rafale carrying the ASMPA nuclear missile on its central pylon. This is one of the most clearest pics of Rafale's underbelly view that I personally have come across.

How would that work? Can't read the article since it requires a subscription. What is Dassault's proposal?

Indonesia seems near to ink an order for 18 Rafale, and 18 other at the end of this year.
Total : 6 already ordered + 18 + 18 = 42 as intended.

Cabinet Committee on Security likely to seal Rafale-M deal today

While I'm elated for the IN (if it comes through) I'm also very disappointed that the IAF is still not pragmatic enough to go to the MoD and GoI, request to cancel the MRFA and go in for 74 Rafale C/Ds in a Govt to Govt contract that will allow for 100 Rafale M/C/D to be built in India.

The one big worry about the Rafale deal for the navy is whether France can deliver them quickly enough. Is there any extra capacity in the assembly line in France after the UAE and Indonesian deals?
With the F-18 at least we would get all the aircraft within 3 to 4 years since the assembly line doesn't have any more orders.

SH 18 is already a old horse.
it clinch far too few export orders : it's a proof it is not efficient (or at least cost efficient) as the legacy F/A 18.

What is better : receive in 3 years a plane already old schooled or wait 2 more years for a modern alternative ? (and this lead time may be shorten by the lease of some french rafale M...)
