AK Antony did the biggest damage by doing nothing for a decade!!!

Nirmala did squat. Kadi ninda is well ninda master!!

Losing Parrikar was a massive blow. Ife he was around, I bet there would be no uncertainties at this point - follow on order for 36 Rafale would be in place and from then on it would be various flavors of home grown gravy. IAF dalals can shove it!
Ya'll Nibbiars conspiracy theory Dalals killed Parrikar and also for forced out of the DM post to CM post by them.

Ya'll Nibbiars from nothing to this was achieved in just two years. If Parrikar was alive now we would had MK 2 getting inducted in service and AMCA Protoype getting ready for the first flight.

Ya'll Nibbiars In 2014 I said that the MWF would be Inducted by 2020. And now no news even if it's would be.

Difficult one this. Not sure what the IAF/GoI are doing.

Enemy at the gates, you've got Forex Reserves in excess of $630bn and a 54-72 order would be paid over numerous years rather than up front. Yet no sense to go for it?

Oh well, if IAF orders in 2022, they'll go for the F4 and receiving them 2027 and beyond. Far too long.

Perplexing. This is 100% on GoI/IAF poor planning + incompetency.

I would have loved 100+ but not with these delivery schedules, would be receiving the last Rafales near the mid 2030s for fvck's sake.

They've missed the boat here. Order another 36, see if delivery schedule can be adjusted and be done with it. If the delivery schedule for 36 is for delivery after 2026/2027, forget it and look toward the Su-75 and indigenous products.

Finally a good deal for Dassault! But not a good deal for India since UAE buy would mean Pakistani pilots will be flying and learning Rafale features...

Is this F4 standard ? I read a report few days back that France is looking for buyers for F4 standard jets so they can start production for French AF and customer.
F4 standard is already funded in France, and the air trials are already on for some bricks, so no special need of buyers. More buyers will "just" add to reduce the unit price.

It was already said about Qatar Rafale....
Are your M2000 useless because Qatar and UAE has it? No. So same answer for Rafale.

Note that no Meteor are on the UAE purchase list....

146 foreigner Rafale sales to be delivered in next 4-5 years.Only then will any deliveries be made to India. And thats of today and without taking into view the French deliveries.Rafale rate is 24/ year.

@BON PLAN can correct me if i am wrong.

So India will need to look at other options to augment fleet strength.

Yes buying a few squadrons of M2K will help but if we are looking for frontline fighters in Rafale capability and before 4 to 5 years, then we will need to look at other options.

F/A 18 or F15 EX may get the nod because the long queue for Rafales.
The actual production rate is unclear. It is somewhere in the 11-22 per year.
The Dassault CEA said friday that the production will grow. Some in France said another assembly line will be open. Maybe inside DRAL ?

80 for UAE to be delivered in 5 years (2027 => 2031) ie 16 per year. Even with only one assembly line, but running in 3 shifts, it is a production of 33/year, so 17 birds per year for France and other export bids... there are spaces for India ! (and in my opinion, any new Indian bid will be assembled by DRAL).

The UAE deal is for Rafale F4. F4 will take several years even to get certified. The development process will only be completed by 2025. Production will not happen before 2027. Most probably, UAE has also infused money for F4 development which is progressing slowly due to lack of finances
Not really.
F4.1 (for F3 non "R" Rafale) will be ready in 2023.
F4.2 (for brand new Rafale and F3R ones) will be ready in 2024. First brand new F4 Rafale will be on assembly line in 2022, 2023 at worst.
Lack of money? F4 standard is inked since january 2019 (*). 2 years ago.... nothing in link to UAE.

The UAE Rafale F4 will probably be the most powerfull, as M2000-9 was. So they may inject some money to developp some new goodies for them selves, as India with the indian specifications.

Enemy were at our gates from 1947. No need for panic buying. Just because we have Forex Reserves doesn't mean we spend them.
Oh well, if IAF orders in 2022, they'll go for the F4 and receiving them 2027 and beyond. Far too long.
Their is no emergency. 2027 is okay what we should avoid is panic driven procurement and making strategic mistake.
Perplexing. This is 100% on GoI/IAF poor planning + incompetency.
These things take time. No need to blame GoI or IAF over everything. We have to do things right.

Su-75 will be the worst choise. Its delivery will co-incidence with AMCA and will compete with AMCA for funds. I don't get t how people have to conclusion that Su-75 is better than Rafale.

UAE says Rafale fighter jets no substitute for US F-35

Commander of the UAE’s air force and air defense told state news outlet over the weekend that last week’s deal for 80 French-made Rafale fighter jets was no substitute for the country’s intent to buy Lockheed-Martin’s F-35 Joint Strike Fighter.
“This deal is not considered as an alternative for the forthcoming F-35 deal,” Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Nasser Al Alawi told Emirates News Agency late on Saturday.
