Looks like but do not have soild plan to go ahead. May be GTRE will work with GE or others to Enhance current engine capacity of Existing engines for AMCA but not K9 or K10

Seems like GTRE will launch a new engine project (under a new name) where the technology developed for Kavery will be used.
The engine will be bigger and will be slated for AMCA.
Collaboration with GE does not look like a real possibility. Americans are very secretive regarding aviation technology which they consider as their core competency.

We should not need anyone's technology, but only help. Like the russkies helped us for testing K9. V&V is a big help. test facilities, FADEC, etc.. we have to build our own data. don't shamelessly beg for data. and we should own it. be part of technology asset regime rather seeking wala.

We can do it.. it is just a question of right minds, with right plan get it with some good funds. It requires CMMI levels of engineering efforts. A big change is required in our approaches.

GTRE was deprived of any funds for a period of 3 years after the Kaveri performed well on the IL-76 testbed in Russki land.-Saurav jha on 19th feb2015

Why?

Are there any plans for reviving Kaveri or similar Engine project? If we have our own engine, we can have a total indigenous fighter plane.

plain and simple.. Kaveri in whatever form, must be fitted inside a PV or TD and we start collecting real data.

it is a deep scam and worse than a paki attack by ignoring Kaveri

we can fairly expect GTRE will continue its research in jet engine and other labs will continue their research on SCBs Even now Kaveri's wet thrust is only 3 percent less than target according to Saurav jha on twitter.

Also once K-9 engines complete 3000 hours of flight test they will be ready to be put on twin engined Mig-29.

if they cross 5000 hours of testing they can be put on a tejas.

till now K-9 has no SCBs and only Directionally solidified (DS) blades

This will lead us to reach 1990s tech level of western nations.

In Aeroindia 2015 an oficial was said to have stated that SCB production stage will be reached in 3 years(Saurav jha has already tweeted that DMRL has already certified the production level SCB tech. )

So refining of engine tech is going on even though K-9 is not going to meet the operational needs of tejas mk1.

It is no simple academic effort to get a finished K-9 engine. It will validate so many crucial design calculations and material science techniques which will be a bed rock of future engine efforts.

Also BLISK, thermobaric coatings that can withstand high temp and efforts at increasing the operating pressure ratios of engines are all going on with the aim of getting all the crucial techs for future high thrust engine.

You can safely expect this process to yield a replacement for GE engines in future.

This is in right direction. I am 100% certain that LCA Tejas will fly with Indian engine; and this may happen in next 5 years.
The name of engine may change or it may be called Kavery, but it will definitely happen.

why the kaveri engine's specification didn't changed according to the requirements of IAF on the pass of time, like how the modification where contently given to our Tejas,?
why our scientists couldn't make advanced blades that could that could be used on kaveri ? our Metallurgical Research could make the defense grade steels for our subs and AC, how much still we need to catch up to reach out to make current world top blade tech ?

You can't change the parameters of complex things like engine mid way through the project.
Right things is to finish it with lower specs, Iron out all the niggling issues, prove its worth in operation and up rate it latter, if possible.Which is what being attempted now.

Kaveri K-9 does not require SCB bldes, The DS blade tech it requires is available in the country itself. And I have read that SCB tech for production purpose is being validated by DMRL, who has the prime responsibility on metallurgical side , not GTRE.

Well you know the principles of function of jet engine. The problems are whit angles of blades of compressor and turbine. And distance between them. And amount of air intaken and of the burner. Shape of nozzle and of all chamber. Is just simple to make (i think) several tryings whit different sizes of all. Not forget the resistance of metal, size and weight of blades, number of them all tested in different air of evironment pressures. Comportament in generally of exhausted gases must be tested. That mean adding different sized shapes to the nozzle. How hard cand be to test?

The CAG report mentioned that Sukhoi corp had transferred SCB technology to HAL after considerable dilly-dallying. So why isn't that knowledge being filtered for Kaveri blades?

sgarg sahib, there is no doubt about our own engine should get into LCA. my desire is having come this far, and having certified Kaveri in whatever form and specification it was certified for, should be ported to a TD/Prototype. If we have 8 engines, convert about 8 LCA TDs to Kaveri based fighter. The data from such use is so much useful that it beats all certifications so far we have got. This is vital, and not dump Kaveri project like our babooze think and do. For them, it is all about input/output.

absolutely, precision engineering and safety-critical systems like kaveri can't be dumped like that. or is this all a whitewash for public information I am not sure. Yes, we can have the next generation engine going in that matches GE 414 specs, but that is entirely different ball game. Getting Kaveri data from LCA TD is entirely different base-ball game. This is important.
