If you are talking about line of credit by GoI/ financial institutions to GRSE then yes.

Otherwise it was Koreans' at play. Philippines got a raw deal when the Koreans' changed the western equivalent with Korean equipment on those frigates.
It was quite a controversy in Philippines.

Yes. MDL too had bought the tender papers for Philippines deal.
They could have provided a modified Saryu class vessel as light frigate.
That wouldn't have been a issue as MDL owns 40% shares of Goa Shipyard.
But still they backed out.

It was perfectly achievable by a modified Saryu class.

Can anyone confirm that Varunastra been equipped on Kamorta, please? Last time I checked, the source still says MU90 (OEM by Bharat Electronics). To a ship of this tonnage (over 2500), Varunastra should NOT only be optional but required (lead-ship in anti-sub missions).

Among other things, the Kamorta class is equipped with two licence-built RBU-6000 anti-submarine rocket launchers, one Oto Melara 76 mm/62 Super Rapid gun, and four Larsen & Toubro indigenous twin torpedo launchers for the locally designed Varunastra torpedoes, which have a stated range of up to 40 km.

Janes only mentioned that Kavaratti got Varnuastra. I tried to confirm that first three will also see to upgrade. Back to 2015, when GRSE bid for Philippines frigates, Kamorta is still with MU90 (in proposal). Thanks still.

BDL obtained license for Varunastra manufacturing in 2018. So only Kavaratti got it which got commissioned in 2020. Others would get it in mid life upgrade.
