Re: K4: Long range underwater launch missile

it is quite interesting to see this launch.

side exhausts take out this missile from sea, notice at the end these exhaust goes down.

They have withheld the missile video at the right time, as it does not show much after the nose cap motor fuel is finished.

Its interesting to see this is not similar to the K15 launch or the Brahmos underwater video launch we have seen earlier.

This means that DRDO has worked hard on this and have found new ways and means to get the missile out of water.

Even the launch few days ago of A5 canister is different.

This shows that DRDO has been moving very fast in missile tech and development. Interesting time ahead for us to see.

Looks like the booster is integrated into the nose cap ..... very nice innovation if you ask me .

Re: K4: Long range underwater launch missile

An old article on k4
India Inches Closer to Credible Nuclear Triad With K-4 SLBM Test | The Diplomat

The K-4 is tailor-made for second-strike purposes. According to the New Indian Express, the missile has the advantage of a hypersonic cruise speed and uses an innovative system of weaving in three dimensions as it flies towards its target, making it an exceptionally difficult target for anti-ballistic missile systems and other air defense systems. Other features of the K-4 include its high accuracy, with an alleged near-zero circular error probable (CEP).

The abilities of the K-4 are set to allow India to deter China with greater credibility. While Pakistan is a concern for India, its relative lack of strategic depth and India's massive conventional advantage have pushed Indian thinking on nuclear matters towards China in recent year. With the K-4-equipped INS Arihant, India has a survivable second-strike capability against China. The Arihant can reportedly carry four K-4 missiles (or 12 of the less-advanced K-15 missiles). The first Arihant-class submarine is undergoing sea trials in 2014 and will be succeeded by three additional boats, expected to be in commission by 2023.

India's credible minimum deterrence doctrine, with a no-first use (NFU) caveat, may be subject to revision if a BJP-led government comes to power this year (a highly likely development). As of now, the specifics of the BJP's ambitions remain ambiguous but India's proximity to fielding a credible nuclear triad with a survivable second-strike capability could make NFU revision less urgent.

Re: K4: Long range underwater launch missile

EXCLUSIVE: Finally, Indian Govt Officially Acknowledges 3,000-km Range K4 SLBM

The clip above, from the official AeroIndia 2015 video of the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) happens to be the first public acknowledgement of the so-far classified K4 long-range underwater launched nuclear-capable ballistic missile system. The DRDO subtitles the K4, somewhat enigmatically a 'longer range' system in the video -- clearly a reference to the 750-km range K15/B05 sub-surface launched weapon that's had more than ten tests so far (and that the DRDO officially acknowledged only in 2013).

The video used in the clip above is in some dispute. Is it really the K4? It doesn't appear to be the K-15. There are no available photographs of the K4, so if this is indeed the single March 2014 test that took place secretively in the Bay of Bengal, these are the first images of the system publicly revealed.

The launch sequence is significant. Compare the clip above with the K-15/B05 system and the BrahMos under-water launched variant, the only two other known sub-surface launched weapons in test. The 'K' family of weapons intended for submarine launch were revealed first by friend and colleague, and India Today deputy editor Sandeep Unnithan in 2010. Unnithan, who has had a look at these images says he understands that the K4 is a 'fatter' missile like the Polaris, but couldn't be sure given the detail in these images.

Re: K4: Long range underwater launch missile

This one looks like a fan boy art .
If you read the first para of post no.15 and check the video. Who so ever made this is fully aware of what he is making without any know picture of K4. So credit must go to him.

Re: K4: Long range underwater launch missile

This is excellent . But really it looks like it has boosters near its nose.

Not boosters :)
Underwater launched missiles need air bubble around them to protect missile from getting into contact with water ...
this can be achieved either by Missile itself ( eg. K4) or by the launcher .
