But the .338 sniper looks genuinely good even in its original Bhagwa stock! I have seen many civilian rifles online and it matches their quality at least in pictures!

Actually even with wooden furniture if they use dark brown paint like original FN FAL it will look better and will be much sturdier than the cheap polymer they might be using.

Though I hope it's of good quality.

Insas was our first indigenous attempt for a modern assault rifle...

it was a good rifle with a lot of potential to become near perfect if MOD, IA, OFB and DRDO worked together to iron out problems version by versions

BUT...IA wants fancy stuff from FOREN...OFB/DRDO labs are plagued by communist unions who dont want to become productive and responsible for quality control...MOD babus want kickbacks with FOREN vendors...

in the end INSAS is blamed for all this...poor gun

.303 bolt action rifle was standard issue till 1962.
SLR from 1963-1997.
Insas from 1997-2019 (till Sigs arrived).

Informal issue: Aks since early 90s.

the problem was the people who were in charge of making the gun had never even fired a gun before. Instead of getting avid shooters and firearms experts to design the gun they just brought in novice engineers.

The british actually hired HK as consultants and ended up fixing the SA80. We didn't fix the INSAS, or atleast did not give a serious attempt at fixing it,

No, the insas 1c and the Excalibur fixed the issues.

Quality Shooting photography or videography are lacking in India, we haven't seen insas shooting in various shooting positions like prone, sitting, kneeling and standing. We haven't seen three round burst of insas or automatic firing of its other version. Oem should exhibit these kind of abilities but no one can be blame except themselves.
