Question:
Anybody knows why India does not use any drum-mags on AKs in SAW or Submachine carbine role? Newer ones seems very compact and neat... Any issues?

Only 1/2 drum per unit on same guns seems like something that would be more useful than BREN or Insas LMG in both CQB and COIN. Plus more weildy than PKM or OFB Mag type bigger, beltfed ones.

Lighter than all above even for bipod attached to full-sized AKM, as only weight difference is 600gm, between loaded banana and drum.

I had asked similar question on Quora about Insas lmg drum mag. He replied me by saying that they are noisy and have issues related to rounds.

If you want to recommend drum magazines then you have to compare weight of bullets packed in normal mag, drum mag & belt feed, otherwise its meaningless

stick mags are just easier to carry than a drum mag and they stack closer to your body much better.

Indian army hardly experiment with innovative ideas. It was very recent when indian army introduce underbarel grenade launchers and it was also very latest when we introduce a real sniper rifles after so many bravehearts were martyred due to porkeis sniping at the meantime indian army used to called dragunov as sniper rifle. These drum magazines are not a new technology but have lot of advantages over 30 rounds one. We also haven't noticed pauch for magazines of a belt fed lmg instead of curling around shoulder to weist. These are not rocket sciences but we hardly kept abreast with time.
