What can I say? This small private firm came out and brought two sniper rifles, one of which ammo type isnt common, puts in most of modern concepts into it and wants to control the rifles ammo and optics. I mean, you gotta reward these guys. And it's a good to see they are, because the likes of Tonbo, MKU, etc. are getting orders.

Hope to see a whole line of small arms from them.

Often used in place of SVD ..
I sincerely respect and thank you for your service to our motherland :india:but I must say this is a very unhappy situation.

Beyond 500 m, the 5.56X45 mm is absolutely ineffective.

“While the infantryman is ideally suited for combat in Afghanistan, his current weapons, doctrine, and marksmanship training do not provide a precise, lethal fire capability to 500 meters and are therefore inappropriate,” Ehrhart contended.

OFT get orders for rifles

Trichy: The Ordnance Factory of Tiruchirapalli (OFT) has received significant orders for producing its trademark product, Trichy Assault Rifle (TAR), from the paramilitary forces. But, the defence production organisation said that the local MSMEs are still hesitant to produce the rifle components that are outsourced under the defence corridor project.

Reliable sources said that OFT has received orders for 20,000 rifles recently, mostly from the security forces falling under the ministry of home affairs (MHA). Official sources said that about 70% of the rifle components are outsourced. But, MSMEs have not come forward to take up the orders and begin the production under the defence corridor project. Trichy Assault Rifle was one of the key subjects of discussions of Tamil Nadu Defence Industrial Corridor project during its launch in January 2019.
“Except for the rifle’s barrel, we can outsource other components from MSMEs. But unfortunately, MSMEs from the state have not approached OFT to produce the components,” an official source in the defence ministry said. The official added that support from MSMEs can help it complete the work and take more rifle orders. Since OFT is expecting a high grade of precision and machining capacity for outsourcing the orders, entrepreneurs are hesitant as they require good capital to upgrade their machinery. MSMEs, on the other hand, have asked the District Industries Centre (DIC) and the state government to facilitate interactions and provide financial support to capitalize on the opportunities.

The 7.62X39 mm Trichy Assault Rifle, both automatic and single fire modes, were developed and launched by OFT for the operational requirements of the state police and paramilitary forces in red corridor (Maoist-Naxalite prone states). Available in three variants such as fixed butt, side foldable, and under folding models, Trichy Assault Rifle is popular among the security forces.

Unless we have a thriving gun market in home or export, no private individual would show interest in small arms manufacturing.

INSAS 1B ( Centre )
2 × INSAS LMGs with Zeiss Red Dot Sights
The INSAS LMG is a good way to add extra firepower to the average infantryman. With the red dot sights, one has the ability to deploy rounds accurately upto 500m+ with some reliability.

Otherwise the LMG is a poorly made rotating bolt FNC - AKM hodgepodge with HK G33 parts thrown in.

INSAS LMG is not really malfunctioning. A magazine fed fixed barrel LMG has rated fire capacity of around 1000 rounds in 30 minutes. In the clip it seems 300 rounds are fired in 2.5 minutes ie 4 times the sustainable rate.

The soldier seems tense and is simply working the bolt in absense of bolt hold open device

The INSAS LMG is not a SAW but rather what you would expect from an M4A1 in full auto. Around 0:22 the barrel is smoking and having a barrel shroud made of cheap plastic ensures that it overheats and malfunctions until it cools down.

Standard INSAS Variant

INSAS LMG Variant

The lower handguard of the INSAS LMG is thicker but the barrel shroud is lacking here.

How the hell did this thing pass even basic trials?!! ..why didn't the users demand changing those subpar plastic parts with outsourced ones in 20 years?
