It would seem the JVPC is 9x19mm Parabellum SMG now or it could be a fudge up by OFB at AI 2017. If this is true is there a possibility ICG Amoghs are 9x19mm as well?

@Kunal Biswas If OFB's new 7.62 LMG is indeed derived from the MAG versions they build (2A1, 6A), the end result might indeed be very similar in concept to the M240 (with stock and potentially, rails).

On that note...have a go at these pics of the new M240LW from Barrett, engineering to be a lighter M240B.

This GPMG (MAG) are now being inducted in the forces for almost 6 months now.

To be honest,I have mixed feeling with the 9mm Version of JVPC.

At first,It's a good decision to include this variant as next standard issue Sub-Machine Gun/Carbine of Indian Army as it eliminates potential logistic problems that 5.56 x 30 mm variant could've created if included in large masses,as current Sterling SMG also uses same cartridge.

On the other hand,The 5.56 x 30 mm has more 'punch' than 9mm Parabellum and it also has (alleged) ability to penetrate BP Jackets,is equivalent in performance to renowned 5.7 x 28 mm FN Cartridge.Of Course, inclusion of a new Rifle Caliber Cartridge (of 5.56 x 30 mm) for next Service Carbine could create logistic problems but it's still nice to have a powerful cartridge than using Pistol caliber Cartridge (9 x 19 mm).

But the question is Kunal are even the 2nd gen PNS available in adequate numbers to Indian infantry. It seems that induction has not been universal yet.

The INSAS report is a badly written, poorly researched PTI piece. It makes it seem as if Pakistan recently inducted these new 7.62x51mm rifles. It is garbage. If QC has been the bane of the INSAS rifles, unless OFB improves oversight, whether the rifles are imported designs or whatever, the rifles will have QC problems.

INSAS is a wonderful weapon, with stunning accuracy a pure marksman choice. The articles which spoke ill abt the wpn were the earliest form of paid journalism which found its place mostly highlighted in the porki def forums and ever since them it has shamed the wpn.
Those who have fired, done drill, ran BPETs and March and shoot competition, offered every bit of agni jal vayu and bhoomi of CI CT areas know the real essence if this assault rif @Kunal Biswas .
