Why the hell do MCs need to dig up roads everyday for something or the other, lack of planning causes this nonsense to happen everyday.

The main road near my house is supposed to be a four lane but it is encroached at both ends. Now our dutiful corporators are digging the road to lay cable, metro water and all stuffs on the middle of second lane which itself is half of the original width. Footpath -- Jokes on us there is no footpath and whatever there is build on bits and pieces and even they are encroached by all shops.

The only solution I see going forward is to create new cities each with an area of 2,500 sq.kms. This huge city should be rich in greenery, should be planned keeping public transport in mind, on the outskirts solar power plants to reduce electricity transmission infrastructure, rain water harvesting everywhere, water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, zonal planning like making sure there is a space for super market, school, hospital like how we see in some European cities. They should completely abandon selling small individual plots to people who build violating building code. Instead, residential societies should be encouraged with strict planning. Land for industry should be ready and everything digitized.

I hope we take inspiration from Singapore and build a city with an area of 2,500 sq.kms. Where ever this city gets built nearby tier 1 city or cities will decongest. This will allow us to rip apart our old Tier 1 cities which are presently choking under congestion and pollution to be rebuilt. This is the only solution I see right now. Our cities also need modern governance model instead of the stupid model we have right now where nothing gets done. Urban planning is crucial for us to catapult to great power status.

Municipal and town planning in India is truly 4th world, in our neighborhood -Cambodia and Laos which are poorer than India per capita have better planning. Visited Cambodia an year ago.

because PWD works have to happen sequentially, one after the other. just like for a house, one can't build foundation, pillars and walls, all at the same time is it.

and local governments cannot close the entire street for traffic while work is going on, except for road relaying.

In India, private townships are the best. City governments will never get anything right. They don’t have the budget or urban planning professionals to get things done. Low property tax for appeasement and not raising enough money through bonds and other economic activities like convention etc means government run cities are not good. I did not see any party lay out a vision for urban India for the elections. Show that urban development, the main engine of growth, is being neglected. Urban development needs not an incremental thinking but a transformation to latest methods of city development and management. I don’t see it happening. Even in our so-called rich cities public infrastructure is terrible as they simply don’t have the budget to do anything.

There's a process. Proper barriers are required around the debris. The whole area can't turn into a bombed out Gaza street.

Every country does maintenance and construction. In better countries, a temporary wooden pathway is kept alongside the construction area for pedestrians. It's ok, 99% of Indians think at your level, so you have company.

Uncivilized people are treated like wise. Don't expect better service as most of our people are close to animals in how they lack civic sense. Until small things are given importance in school age, nothing will improve and it's a fact

Ya'll Nibbiars The developer who has got the land development rights under the SRA Authority. Filed for the demolition and within the 14 working days this happened. A Commercial Mix use development may happen here.

As the MCGM will generate high revenue in mostly form of the taxes and duties they are bound to do this.
