terrible pace of construction. Snails have a worthy opponent.........
INS Vikrant will contribute to the glorious activity of sinking Chinese vessels to the bottom of the Indian Ocean. That is the only thing that matters!

Hopefully future classes are expedited in their construction.

Not as long as they are entrusted to commie PSU in a commie infested state filled with commie trade unions infiltrated by spies from their red brethren from china and who would rather go on a strike than give two hoots about the security of the nation !

Lets hope IB can sort this out. It's a critical requirement.

Hope is a dangerous thing. Looking at how little toe hold the centre has on such states like WB where begum is openly indulging in anti national activities and given that Kerala is filled with abduls and their abrahamic brethren brainwashed by the church mafia , I doubt if they will even grant IB officials any permission, or even if IB is on watch there .....

That's where we come in. Use SM, organize and strategize against these scum. This forum is closely monitored by the powers that be. Lets make their job easier.

WB, KL are cases of commie infestation. Disinfection starts from ground up. Education, Local Administration, Police, etc.

nyaah.....it's plain laziness. I mean, if the outfitting takes a crazy 3 years even after the superstructure is complete.......I blame simply on work culture. This PSU either needs to get further orders to keep it running OR needs to REFORM itself big time to get further orders. There lies a big IF - will it do that??

Blame lies on the navy and MoD too. Navy keeps on making changes to the design, why can't they freeze the design of the warship ? Also why MoD keeps on giving orders to Govt. shipyards when they are already overburdened ? Then when delay happens they rush to Russia to buy new warships instead of giving orders to private shipyards like L&T.

The QE-class Commander's section (front) and ATC tower (back) with their semicircular all-glass viewing gallery..........

In INS Vikrant (IAC-1), a single look-alike tower does both functions. The viewing gallery is also similar and is being built by the same UK company.........

Looks like a British-inspired (still much modern) design, but a choked AC. I'm sure British consultants worked on this project behind closed doors..........so much for indigenous. It's rather Indie-genius, I say!!!!

Who are the British consultants? And you think getting consultants is something to scoff at? It happens with almost all high-end projects anywhere in the world. It’s still being made in India and the basic design is Indian. Specialisation is incredibly rare.

Seriously?!..
Italian consultants..specifically Fincantieri. Fincantieri built the Italian navy's Cavour class aircraft carrier. It has a displacement of around 27,000 tons. Remember the Air Defence Ship (ADS) that the IN was going for earlier was in this displacement class. Then the discplacement was modified to 40000 tons now. Essentially the Vikrant class is a stretched Cavour class. This is for the hull form , float and propulsion design of the ship. The aviation complexe is from Russia and probably has a lot of similarity to the Vikramaditya's aviation complex.

Delivery date of Indian Navy Aircraft Carrier INS Vikrant once again delayed

Sea trials of India’s indigenous aircraft carrier INS Vikrant have been delayed again. Senior naval sources say the Covid-19 pandemic has set back the start of trials by at least six months – perhaps more if the lockdown and travel restrictions continue. The first phase of the warship’s trials – termed basin trials – was initially scheduled to begin on March 12 at Cochin Shipyard Ltd, where INS Vikrant has been constructed. However, construction delays caused that to be moved back to April. Then, with the Covid-19 crisis, the navy says trials are unlikely to begin before September/October. The long-delayed warship was scheduled to be ready by the end of 2018, but due to delay in getting aviation equipment from Russia, the delivery date has been postponed. For the record, the engines onboard the first Indigenous Aircraft Carrier being constructed at Kochi have been fired up. In his Navy Day press meeting last December, the Navy Chief, Admiral Karambir Singh, said the navy would have a fully operational INS Vikrant before the end of 2022. The Covid-19 pandemic has already pushed that back to 2023 and further delays are possible. About INS Vikrant The INS Vikrant is the first indigenous aircraft carrier design being undertaken by the nation of India. It is one of two planned vessels in the new “Vikrant-class” of surface warships and has seen construction begin in 2009. The Indian Navy’s first indigenous aircraft carrier Vikrant is currently under the third phase of construction. INS Vikrant is a 260 meters long and 60 meters wide vessel displacing 37,500-tonnes. The maximum speed of the ship is announced at 28 knots, with a range of 7,500 nautical miles at a speed of 18 knots. INS Vikrant is set to receive a large crew complement composed of 160 officers and 1,400 sailors. The aircraft carrier will be able to accommodate up to 30 fighters and helicopters, including Mig-29K fighters jets and Ka-31 helicopters. The Vikrant will be equipped with 4 x 76mm Otobreda dual-purpose cannons and backed by several surface-to-air missile emplacements. For short-ranged work against incoming aircraft or missiles, a digitally-controlled Close-In Weapon System (CIWS) will be installed. A Selex RAN-40L L-band early warning radar system will be part of the defensive network of sensor and systems processing.

Recent photos show IAC-1 Vikrant moving out of its berth in Cochin Shipyard and later returning back to its berth. The ship appears to be moving on its own engine power. This could indicate the beginning of basin trials. Work on radar mounts is ongoing. Pic credit to owner.
