Here are some legacy Hornets with a better perspective for comparison and they are smaller than Super Hornets. 10:52 and 12:11

That perspective makes the E-2 look smaller than the SH.
Yes, cameras with hughe telephoto lenses cause near object to appear much more bigger.

F/A 18 Super Hornet is compatible with Indian aircraft carrier, ski jump tests soon: Boeing
While both France and the US have offered their fighters, the key issue is that both western jets are operate from a flat deck with assistance of a catapult.

The Super Hornet, which is by far the most used carrier borne fighter in the world, will be competing with the French Rafale for a requirement of 57 jets for the Navy for its aircraft carrier that is currently under construction at Kochi.
Making a strong pitch for the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets for an upcoming requirement of the Indian Navy, US defence major Boeing has said that the aircraft will soon be tested on a ski jump to demonstrate that its abilities to operate from Indian platforms............................................. @Defcon 1

@Gessler So what's the catch here? Didn't you told me they were supposed to operate from INS Vishal, which would be CATOBAR(..no?)?
And if these are for INS Vikrant, then WTF did Navy order 45 instead of 24!?

FFS!

Major structural and outfitting work of Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC) has been completed. Major milestone activities including starting of Main Propulsion machinery and trials of Power Generation machinery have been completed. Trials of other ship’s equipment and systems are presently in progress.

Ship’s targeted delivery was affected due to delay in supply of aviation equipment from Russia.

Indian Navy acquires various ships/weapons/equipment including the carrier-based Aircraft in accordance with the Maritime Capability Perspective Plan (MCPP) and Long Term Integrated Perspective Plan (LTIPP).

This information was given by Raksha Rajya Mantri Shri Shripad Naik in a written reply to Dr Amar Patnaik in Rajya Sabha today.
