This is cool!! Previously, BEL's BFSR had an Israeli (non-AESA) radar; not sure if the AESA radar here is indigenous or of Israeli origin!!
These should be mast-mounted (10+ meter) for optimal effectiveness!!

What units are these deployed with?
Is this the newest development of BEL? what is the top instrument over the rader? Electro-optics?
Looks like a Day/Night camera on top. The concept of BFSR has been there for few years, but this rendition is completely new (especially with an AESA radar). Seems like we'll see proliferation of AESA technology everywhere!!!Is this the newest development of BEL? what is the top instrument over the rader? Electro-optics?
Upgraded version of (AESA) BEL Battle Field Surveillance RadarIs this the newest development of BEL? what is the top instrument over the rader? Electro-optics?

Are you sure about it's Israeli origin? This is cool!! Previously, BEL's BFSR had an Israeli (non-AESA) radar; not sure if the AESA radar here is indigenous or of Israeli origin!!

The BFSR-MR (medium range) had an Israeli radar. The BFSR-SR (short range) had an Indian made radar. Are you sure about it's Israeli origin?
I think all 3 mode haven't completed, but nevertheless it can be configured and tested on Tejas. So finally dream come true . Indian air born aesa radar finally completed development and going to actual testing on final destination i.e Tejas . This mean all three mode i.e air to air , air to ground, and air to sea has been completed . Also miniaturisation of GaN module under development . So we can say soon a GaN aesa air born radar will be available from in house .
Ok , actually It is impression from media new from aero India but I think air to air and air to ground has been completed as air to air all ready fully tested in 2014 - 2015 , but air to ground causing problems . If air to ground has been completed , air to sea is more or less same / easy . Putting in Tejas itself means they want to test it in real situations with air cooling system on board , I thinks so . If you have specific information, please share it .I think all 3 mode haven't completed, but nevertheless it can be configured and tested on Tejas.
Now it is big news sir . Congratulations to drdo .Cross post from BR - shared by JayS based on his Aero-India visit (Thank you Sir)
