As per some reports Roscomos has lost communications with the Lander.What compounds Russia's problem is that they are cut off from global deep space communications network.

As per two unofficial Telegram channel ie, Zakryty Kosmos, reported that the spacecraft had broken communications with ground control during the orbit correction but Roskosmos continues its attempts to contact the spacecraft. Another Telegram channel Yura Prosti claimed that a computational error led to the final engine firing to be 1.5 times longer than required and thus resulting in deorbiting and crash of the spacecraft on the Moon.

isro had announced it to be around 2 am ist 20th August.. and it happened around the same time..

One upmanship with India, might be one of the reasons, as equipment might not have been rigoursly tested, before the rushed launch..

I'm guessing, majority of the mass is occupied by the RTG, ergo the long, 1 year mission duration.

One upmanship with India, might be one of the reasons, as equipment might not have been rigoursly tested, before the rushed launch..

I frankly do not believe that Russia was in competition with India. This lander mission was originally scheduled for the early 2000s but was delayed for more than a decade due to various issues.
Them launching a mission in the same time period as chandrayaan 3 is a mere coincidence and not by design.

Russia employing shoddy practices and making cuts in design and testing goes back to the days of early soviet era,so nothing new here and it's not just limited to their space industry,it's present in almost all of their industries and this is precisely why they are not the technological superpower they aspire to be.

I won't be surprised that they had parts from washing machine,dish washers,refrigerators and automobiles in this Luna 25 probe.
