It will work same as it would work on any other rifle, it will be effective upto its intended range of 200-300 yards, more than that you'll need magnified optics. The only sort of disadvantage is potential range of the gun is wasted to a degree. Still a red dot/reflex/holographic sight will be better than plain iron sights.
