I am surprised to hear this from you.

The tactics are an outcome of our conditions - the forces dont want latest hollywood movies to decide the best moves o_O They are formed basis our own experience and also training inputs from multiple sources.
Sirji - understand the fallacy in your statement. If our tactics have evolved enough to not warrant any introspection then NSG wouldnt have gone running to GSG-9 post 26/11 for a strategic rethink. (same thing has also happened with Army SF FYI).

Lets just agree to disagree none the less. When it comes to certain SOP's within our forces I always wonder at a number of them- slithering (visavis fast roping) and this caterpiller walk (visavis a more fluid motion) not to mention our shooting drills and rooming clearing drills (i have seen enough videos where the operator in front pass across raised muzzles while entering a room)

But then again, what do i know, being an armchair general has the benefits of mental masturbation.

These awards show who is doing the majority of the SF work...mind you these have some of the SSG kills too.

Para SF FTW!
Really don’t think it’s smart that these events are televised where it concerns active duty SF operators. Pakis are known to monitor and target these individuals thereafter.

Have the event but keep the cameras away and don’t issue press releases.

Agree. It's not like SF is doing something they haven't done for more than 2 decades.

This has been going on for awhile so I dont think the armed forces mind this.

However majority of the SF awards were given for action on loc than in hinterland.. I m sure we are proactively killing Porki ssg before they even come close to our posts

Ideally, you don’t want SF operators to be known to public. I don’t think you would ever know the name of a SEAL or spetsnaz until they have retired, but after the death of Major Mohit Sharma AC, I have noticed that the govt has become more public about the sacrifices of the Para SF.

PR or propaganda as you may call it is a public need particularly in a democratic setup. It can be a very powerful tool for many purposes including inculcating a sense of pride and motivation. Its utility would be largely determined by the time, situation and needs of a society and the nation.

All countries in the world give big publicity to their Special Forces especially if they happen to be from armed forces. Police / intelligence agency SF actions largely remain clandestine because of the nature of operation, their ethics and functional needs. One can not give publicity for a political or economical killing which otherwise could have undertaken by Police SF guys but why not against Pakistanis.

One could identify SF HQs by a mere google search. I cross-checked the locations with the SF guy. I even notified my friend who is an Army officer and he chucked it away. In this open-source information era things are hard to hide from civilians. Enemy intelligence agencies with more resources probably have more info than civilians regarding deployment.

Nothing wrong with awarding the deserving people on national television. Their act of valor which entitled them to their respective medals is not disclosed or even if disclosed it is generally manipulated. This is what I have learnt from my discussion with veterans.
