A lot of these commandos are given M4s.

If we had mciws now maybe it would've inducted in their arsenals in stead of pardeshi maal.

Still have sh*tty equipment, unaccepetable for the national capital of India.
That's what I was about to say. They are S.W.A.T and look under equipped than ISIS jihadis. May be they are doing some training. But isn't training supposed to be done with available equipment in order to learn and get habituated to use the right equipment at right time.

RFI hands over indigenous Ghaatak rifle to Kerala Police
KOLKATA: Rifle Factory Ishapore (RFI) handed over the first Ghaatak rifle to the director general of Kerala Police on Monday at the factory premises in North 24-Parganas. The 7.62 x 39 mm assault rifle has been developed by the factory indigenously for use by the defence, central paramilitary and state police forces. The rifle can fire in single and automatic modes and its magazine has a capacity of 30 rounds. Its rate of fire is 600 rounds per minute and effective range is 300 metres.

"On Monday, RFI general manager Ratneshwar Varma handed over the weapon to Rajesh Dewan, DG, Kerala Police in the presence of other senior officers and employees of the factory. Senior officials of the Telangana Police were also present during the programme. The first batch of Ghaatak rifles is ready for issue to the Kerala Police. Other state police forces are also interested in the weapon," a senior official from RFI said.

The Ghaatak rifles are unique as holographic day sights and corner sights can be mounted on them. These sights can't be mounted on existing AK-47 rifles. Even the Kolkata Police has sent its AK-47 rifles to RFI for incorporation of these sights.

"State police forces from Assam, Punjab, Manipur, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Bihar, Maharashtra and Nagaland will receive consignments of Ghaatak rifles in subsequent batches shortly. Several other Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have given indents for supply of the rifles. The Kerala Police DG appreciated the efforts of RFI in developing the indigenous weapon. He assured that the factory - that developed the 5.56 mm Insas rifle - will receive more orders for Ghaatak, sniper rifles and .303 anti-riot guns from the Kerala Police. He also requested RFI to provide first-hand training to Kerala Police in use and maintenance of these weapons," the official added.

Varma said that RFI, which has been producing small arms for over 100 years now, will strive towards development of better weapons.

The Indian Police Service (Bhāratīya Pulis Sevā) or IPS, is one of the three All India Services of the Government of India. It has replaced the Indian Imperial Police in 1948, a year after India gained independence from Britain.

The service is not a force itself but provides leaders and commanders to staff the state police and all-India Central Armed Police Forces. Its members are the senior officers of the police

ROMA, cyber crime is rapidly increasing in kolkata city primises. It is due to the fact, lack of communications between state govt and central govt., and there is no administrative power from Central Agencies, New Delhi.
West Bengal Police and Kolkata Police have very good reputation in handling dacoity, molestation, child lifting etc. But in the following days militant outfits, funding for organization is rapidly increased due to poor administrations from central as well as state govt.
Kolkata police needs better, sophisticated weapons, crime and investigation networks. GHAATAK RIFLES already choosen by kerala police, and Maharashtra, punjab, bihar, assam, manipur, nagaland etc are ready to modify there arm security wing system.
Because this weapons can find and fight with criminals who working as a militant organization cadres.
I think with out modernization of kolkata police it is a trouble for cops find out exact locations and proper suspected criminals.
Now a days, WhatsApp messages in select areas warning residents that masked men are entering the districts and they are being accused of different kind criminal activities. Now who are the peoples working behind this groups and how they are guided, funding is done.
Firstly, funding completely stop in the name of social information business.
Secondly, Police must aware of new comers in the city premises, say, railway stations, bus stations etc and where they have taken shelters. Every citizens must have proper proof of identity and banking assests, insurances etc.
Otherwise, it is very difficult to identify who are the peoples doing criminal activities using social networking sites.
ROMA, kolkata city is under grave severe painful mental trauma. A large number of Peoples is accepting several instances of rumour - mongering, some of which have already led to violence and which have increasing move closer to the city.
It must be STOP immediately, preventive measures such as,respecting senior citizens, always keep communications with local police station in sensitive places. For any new people, families coming from different places must be very friendly with neighbors and need better intimacy.

Safety a priority, Delhi cops to get new bulletproof jackets
NEW DELHI: In what can be seen as a confidence-building measure among Delhi Police personnel, the department is learnt to have initiated the process to procure bulletproof jackets. In the first lot, 2,450 superior-quality vests will be procured.

Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik is believed to have issued instructions to officers for giving top priority to cops' safety. The department is expected to complete the procurement by April, sources said.
The jackets being bought are of level 3+, which will protect the cops from bullets fired from weapons like AK rifles, sten machine guns, MP-5, carbine and Insas. The new vests are likely to cost around Rs 1 lakh each. The existing ones were bought for Rs 40,000 each.

Explaining the features of the new jackets, an officer said they were water and fireproof. Even exposure to ultra violet ray leaves no impact on them. The vests will be available in "extra large" size apart from large and standard sizes. Last February, TOI had reported how a 90,000-strong police force was managing with only 300 bulletproof vests.

Most of them were given to the personnel from the New Delhi district, Special Cell and the crime branch.
These jackets are not just outdated but also heavy, weighing around 11kg a piece, an officer said, adding that it was extremely difficult to put on these jackets for hours.

Following the TOI report, the cops had planned to procure 1,000 jackets last year, but the plan did not materialise.
The absence of safety gear like bulletproof jackets has exposed the vulnerability of the cops to attacks by criminals and terrorists.

While top Mumbai police officer Hemant Karkare fell victim to terrorists' bullets during 26/11, Mohan Chand Sharma of Delhi Police was killed during the 2008 Batla House encounter. In 2013, a Delhi court had expressed concerns over the city's ill-equipped cops after which the Delhi Police had begun efforts to procure bulletproof jackets for its personnel.

The police brass woke up to the need to procure more safety gear last January when a cop was gunned down by two criminals on bike in outer Delhi's Alipur. Though senior officers had decided that cops on patrol duty should wear these jackets to protect themselves if attacked by criminals, plans to procure them had been stuck in red-tape in the past year.

We have seen how well equipped and well armed the Mizo Police Forces are. Well our prize state and one of the seven sister Arunachal isn't far behind too.

Arunachal Armed Police Special Task Force - the elite Police Commandos are as heavily armed as any elite military forces. They seems to have seek the proven SIG instead of M4 carbine.
