If only navy could freeze the design of its warships they would never have such huge delays. But i guess they are allergic to on time deliveries.
Navy is learning . It build 3 shivalik class frigate and then ordered 7 follow on nilgiri class of almost similar design. Each nilgiri class is supposed to be build in 4-5 years which is not bad for 7000 ton ship. Modular construction is being applied. And they are building them simultaneously at two shipyards.

Navy has also ordered 16 asw scw Corvette at one go simultaneously .

Now hopefully they will oder next gen Corvette and next gen opv in huge numbers rather then being piecemeal about it.

We need to start using coast guard mussle to harass Pakistan just like China does in South China Sea.

We need to capture porky sea area for our fishing trawleres. This could be revenge for Kashmir militancy. And it will force Pakistan to spend more on navy which will starve their air Force and army further.

There is also economical benefit. We can steal all the fish of Pakistani waters. And sell them to china.lol.

We could also destroy Pakistani coastal economy by denying them their own sea resources.

Maybe we are already doing it. If not we should definitely do it. They have no counter. They can neither survey their ocean area nor could out up resistance against huge Indian fleets.

L&t is building Vikram class opv of 2200 ton at 7-8 months from laid down to launch. They deliver before scheduled time.
And goa shipyard builds samarth class of 2400 ton at 3 years laid to launch.:mad2::mad2:

The difference between psu and private is too stark .
We need more private shipyard if we hope to catch-up to Japan and Korea in shipbuilding.

It would be counter productive, if we focus on their navy they will also focus on their navy. It might give them sufficient motivation to upgrade their naval inventory & tactics.

Naval Anti Ship Missile. DRDO project.

View attachment 48037
Oh yes this one.

But it's short range tells me that it will probably be lightweight helicopter launched missile.

We are also developing new cruise missiles based on nirbhay. 4 of these of coast guard ships will make a killer combo along with helicopter carrying nasm-sr.

Naval development is pretty costly and Pakistan budget is limited. If they put money in navy they will end up starving airforce which is already pretty obsolete. But it will benefit us as our domination over pok will improve.

Basically we need to open second frontier to divide Pakistani resources . We could manufacture fake claim over paki maritime zone just like China to maximize pressure. We can also keep them very distracted this way as well as make gwadar unattractive and insecure.

. If they try to improve both navy and airforce along with their useless bloated army they will bankrupt even faster.

When you consider the china factor, cost is not a issue for pak. Pak Navy is china's rear guard in indian ocean.

atleast that was the original plan.

Well chota ambani is a unique case. He has destroyed everything he has touched and has successfully become millionaire from billionaire.

A private yard under Tata , Mahindra , kalyani or even mota ambami will do much much better ..

Even adani is doing very well with Mundra port.

Better yet let l&t takeover pipapav shipyard from reliance and let them complete the delayed projects navy could wave penalty as an incentive for l&t to do so.

Till date Chinese haven't helped Pakistan financially. All they have given loans with high interest rates.
China is not USA. And now with us china tradewar money will be tight for china. And china operating in arabian sea is a good excuse for us to meddle into South China Sea. Chinese are not that stupid at least not now.

And it's not just ships . Pakistan will have to pay for manpower at high naval wages. It's already struggling with army on that one.

Yantar Shipyard Completes Two Frigates for Indian Navy Under New Hull Numbers.

Yantar Shipyard (Kaliningrad, Russia) holds on completion of two Project 11356 Burevestnik-class ships. The yard reports on the online public procurement portal that the matter is outfitting work on two frigates, hull numbers 01457 and 01458.Being interviewed on March 24, the shipyard’s CEO Eduard Efimov announced the entry of an export contract for two ships into force. He said the works on that contract were in progress, and the funding schedules had been already approved. Along with construction of two Project 11711 landing ships of the second series, this order is the Yantar’s primary income source.

Chronology Upon settlement of a number of discords, in the fall of 2018 Moscow and New Delhi signed a suite of shipbuilding contracts regarding four Project 11356 frigates. On November 23, the president of United Shipbuilding Corporation, Alexey Rakhmanov stated that the company was planning to meet the 36-month deadline. In February 2020, Federal Service for Military & Technical Cooperation reported about the plans to supply India with two frigates [initially keel-laid under names of Admiral Butakov and Admiral Istomin ] within the first half of 2014.

India’s Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL) will build other two ships under a technology transfer agreement. All four frigates will be powered by Ukrainian-made engines. The GSL’s official Mahesh Malkarnekar told Mil.Press at the Army-2019 forum that the Indian shipyard would lay down the two ships in 2020, roughly half a year apart. When the contract is completed, the fleet of India-operated Burevestnik-class frigates will amount to 10 hulls. In the Russian Navy, Project 11356 frigates will be replaced by Project 20386 corvettes, Vladimir Tryapichnikov heading the Russian Navy’s Shipbuilding, Weaponry & Operation Dept shared with Mil.Press in May 2019.

Displacement of Project 11356 frigates (in Indian Navy, guided missile frigates) is 4,000 tons, max speed is 30 knots, endurance is 30 days. Onboard weapons include: 100-mm artillery mount A-190, air defense artillery/missile systems, torpedo and ASW warfare facilities, and long-range cruise missiles Caliber-NK (for Indian Navy, BrahMos). Each frigate accommodates one Ka-27 or Ka-31 helicopter.
