The 127mm gun will be developed indigenously. It is in negative import list along with the 30mm Naval Surface Gun from 2030 onwards.
Thanks.
It won't be IDDM. It is in the negative import list from 2030 onwards means BHEL has a deadline to sign MoU with Leonardo, create a supply chain for its LRUs, and offer the finished 127/64 LW to IN by 2030. Like they did for the 76/62 SR.

Yeah, so by 2030 it will become indigenous.

It depends on your definition of "indigenous", I guess.

The manufacturing process and supply chain will be indigenised for a foreign-designed and developed product (which is the next best thing to an IDDM product), but the product itself is not indigenous (IDDM).

Gents, any ideas as to why we have not taken any interest in the massive Zubr-class hovercraft? PLAN is the second-largest operator after Russians and even the Greeks have it.

Considering that Indian Navy is planning to augment our amphibious assault fleet, Zubr class hovercrafts should be the first ones on the Navy's mind. These and the LPDs.

ICG use hovercrafts in their fleet. IMO, IN already has LCUs so why bother going for hovercrafts.

Hovercrafts are better in some aspects - but if the beach is mined/entrapments, then your hovercraft will sink faster than you can say "oh shit"
Sir ji I had a question.
Let's say during a deployment a sailor falls overboard, is he rescued ?
Amd are indian navy personnel given time to dive and enjoy in the ocean like amrikis do ?

Yeas of course he's rescued. Man Overboard drills are practiced quite frequently. As far as the other question is concerned, men at sea do a LOT of things to enjoy the doldrums of mission deployments. Sea Dives, helo deck barbeques, etc etc

IN currently operates 12 Boeing P8i aircrafts.

There were multiple news of follow on orders to the 12 originally purchased. Did any of them go through?

How many more P8i's are we likely to add to our existing fleet of 12?

Added later -

Guess none in the near future.

The Indian Navy programme to acquire 6 more P8I Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance (LRMR) aircraft from the US under a multi-billion-dollar Government-to-Government deal has stalled after the expiry of the price offer by the US Government on July 31.
It is learnt that the offer had already been extended multiple times for over a year beyond the original deadline for the signing the Letter of Offer and Acceptance (LoA) or the contract under the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) format. The offer was made after intense price negotiations between the two sides. The last remaining stage was the signing of the LoA after approval by the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS).
