Interestingly, the Zvezdochka shipyard made a formal offer for the sale of three Kilo class conventional submarines to India at a token price of one rupee. In a presentation made to Admiral Singh, the Russian side said it wants India to pay only for the approximate $250 million refit cost of each boat (Rs 1,857 crore). India last opted for this acquisition model when it acquired the mothballed former Soviet aircraft carrier Admiral Gorshkov in 2004, for an eventual refit cost of over $2 billion.

Now my Question?

Is it not possible to have these boats and have refit in India? Russia can be paid for consultancy. Upgrade can be done with many Indian and parts from friendly countries (Russian and non-Russian). It will be cheaper and Indian docks will learn.
Ya'll Nibbiars Russian nahi manage.

Ya'll Nibbiars

1 . Keep the older Vessel longer in the Services.

2 . A large New Constructions Programme.

3 . Acquire refurbished Vessels.

4 . Step up the IAC programme.

Ya'll Nibbiars The current 200 Vessel programme can be traced back to the 90's when the Mlecchas PLAN was taken into consideration. But not that has shifted to the 240 Vessel Programmes. And this can be only achieved within a stipulated time with more proper education running the Vessel classes longer in tje production and with increased capital exposure.

KEEL LAYING CEREMONY FOR 1st WARSHIP OF ASW SHALLOW WATER CRAFT PROJECT AND 3rd WARSHIP OF SURVEY VESSEL LARGE PROJECT

Posted On: 06 AUG 2021 6:24PM by PIB Delhi

Keels of the first warship of the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASWSWC) project and the third warship of Survey Vessel Large (SVL) project for the Indian Navy were laid virtually on 06 Aug 2021 by VAdm SN Ghormade, Vice Chief of Naval Staff. The ships are being built by GRSE as part of the indigenous shipbuilding program for construction of eight ASWSWC and four SVL for the Indian Navy. The ships are partly being built under a unique Public Private Partnership model by GRSE at L&T Shipyard, Kattupalli. The Keel Laying is a major milestone activity in the shipbuilding process and indicates the amalgamation of various blocks towards construction of a ship.

VAdm Kiran Deshmukh, CWP&A, RAdm GK Harish, DGND (SSG), RAdmVKSaxena (Retd), CMD/GRSE, and other senior officials of the Indian Navy and GRSE were also present.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Guest appreciated the efforts put in by GRSE and L&T in achieving this milestone despite COVID constraints and resultant lockdowns. He called it a noteworthy achievement by the Shipyard and commended the professionalism displayed by all. He highlighted that construction of these vessels is a major boost for AtmaNirbhar Bharat and India’s ‘Make in India’ commitment with most of the weapons, sensors and equipment being indigenous.

He added that the ASW Shallow Water Craft equipped with state-of-the-art underwater sensors and weapons will boost the Navy’s ASW capability. The SVL ships capable of full-scale coastal survey, deep-water Hydrographic survey and determination of Navigational channels/ routes will also be fitted with state of art equipment.

Highlighting various challenges faced by the Shipyard in executing this complex shipbuilding project CMD-GRSE stated that despite challenges posed by the ongoing pandemic, production of the ships continued by utilisation of innovative solutions. He thanked the Indian Navy for their unstinted support and reiterated GRSE’s commitment to cater for the requirement of modern surface fleets.

Russkies won't agree, even if they do, something like this is bound to happen.

Follow on of the P17A Niligiri class frigates.
We don't know that.

Whether the NGF will be a P17A follow-on or not will depend on the way the surface ship doctrine of IN evolves.

If what I think is right and NGD/P-18 really turns out to be a AAW/Land attack-focused destroyer, then chances are low that NGF would be a P17A follow-on. That is to say, a multi-purpose frigate that spreads combat load on ASW, AAW & ASuW equally.

AAW-focused NGD would mean NGF can be designed from ground-up to be leaning more toward ASW & perhaps ASuW.

That would make it a clean sheet design (or at least, heavily modified) and the resulting equation would be very similar to that between Type 45 destroyer & Type 26 frigate of Royal Navy (or Hobart-class DDG & Hunter-class FFG of RAN).

Hello experts, i am looking for some materials on the discussion of "Should we have more aircraft carriers" versus "We should concentrate more on submarines/destroyers/etc". Appreciate, if in case already discussed on this forum, to point to the resources.

Submarines ,guided missile corvette's , air defemce corvette's , destroyers and submarines should be main policy instead of aircraft carrier .
Army to alag hi hai, god knows how many type of ammunition they use , war ke time me logistics ki gand faat jayegi.
Iaf should upgrade those fuckkng flankers , for God's sake.
You can't take tejas delivery , amca bohot door hai , 36 Rafaels se kuch nai hoga , atleast upgrade the flankers.
Ya'll Nibbiars see again what I written in the in this thread that is going to happen. And also Submarine deal would be fast tracked like the Rafale but build in India and also I think the Russian would chosen due to the cost and the VLS.

Amur class ?
Russian offer of 6+2 Amur 650 with AIP and VLS ( brahmos). France Naval group offer 6 Extended scorpene or newly designed for Indian navy SMX 3.0 with AIP and VLS.
Navy choice is SMX 3.0 so as a continuation of scorpenes.

Both russians and french have extended to help design and build Indigenous SSN program
