Narendra Modi govt clears Indian Navy proposal to buy 10 shipborne drones
Narendra Modi govt has cleared the Indian Navy proposal to buy 10 shipborne drones. The Navy will acquire these drones through an open bid under the Buy Global category It will then deploy them on its large size warships for surveillance and reconnaissance activities

New Delhi: After leasing two predator drones from the US, the Indian Navy is now going to urgently acquire 10 shipborne drones for enhancing its surveillance capabilities in the Indian Ocean Region, for which it has received government approval recently.

"A proposal moved in fast track mode by the Indian Navy before the Defence Ministry, under which it will buy 10 Naval Shipborne Unmanned Aerial Systems for around ₹ 1,300 crores has been cleared by the government," government sources said, according to ANI.

The Navy will acquire these drones through an open bid under the Buy Global category and then soon deploy them on its large size warships for surveillance and reconnaissance activities.

As per the plans of the Navy, the drones would be deployed on big size warships of the force and would help them in the detection of activities of the Chinese as well as other adversaries in and around Indian territorial waters, they said.

The Indian Navy is working separately on a project to acquire Sea Guardian drones from the United States for expanding its surveillance in the country's areas of interest from Madagascar to Malacca Straits and beyond

J-15 is itself a copy of Su-33. Chinks got hold of an unfinished Su-33 airframe from Ukraine in addition to its first carrier. Chink engineers studied the airframe in detail, and made a copy. Hence J-15 has design flaws, reliability problems when landing in carrier among a host of issues.
Also remember that for a Naval fighter aircraft, Su-33 is a bulky platform. It was offered to Iindia, but we rejected it. Ideal choice is a medium platform like Mig-29, Rafael-M and F-18s.

China has never made an entirely chinese designed aircraft from scratch, components imported are not an issue many countries do the same. But their design is not chinese.

Indians were not allowed to enter missile compartment of this submarine. So soviet had full control over this submarine but it was serving under indian navy .
Where was the missile forward from? Torpedo tube or seperate tube? The latter does not have any human inside at all, and to think that we could not enter torpedo compartment is just a non-sense rumour.

Weapon control room was closed for indians. It was just a training sub for indians. This sub was armed with soviet slbm. Soviet wanted to hide slbm technology from us.we paid for sub not for missile.

There were no SLBMs on Chakra-I.

There is no "weapon control room" on a submarine.

The sub was equipped with P-70 Amethyst (sic) missiles which we fired in exercises.

Additional coastal radar stations to be completed by November 2021

The establishment of 42 additional radar stations along the coast to strengthen coastal surveillance and prevent a repetition of terror attacks such as that on 26/11 (2008) in Mumbai is likely to be completed by November 2021, according to the Defence Ministry. The project is being implemented by Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the Indian Coast Guard.
“Post implementation of Phase-I and Phase-II of the chain of Static Sensors, the Indian coastline will be under the surveillance of 104 radar stations being one of the largest of such network,” the Defence Ministry said in its annual report. The contract with BEL was concluded on January 15, 2020 with a cost of ₹1,814.32 crore.

Indian Navy to hold mega coastal defence exercise covering over 7,500 kms of coastline

New Delhi, Jan 11 (PTI) The Indian Navy will kick-start on Tuesday a two-day multi-agency military exercise covering India''s 7,516 km-long coastline, involving 13 coastal states and Union Territories, to further bolster maritime security and surveillance, officials said.
Billed as India''s largest coastal defence drill, the second edition of exercise ''Sea Vigil'' is being organised to check the efficacy of the measures initiated to plug gaps in coastal security following the Mumbai terror attack in 2008, they said.
"The scale and conceptual expanse of the exercise is unprecedented in terms of the geographical extent, the number of stakeholders involved, the number of units participating and in terms of the objectives to be met," the Indian Navy said.
The two-day drill is a build-up towards Theatre-level Readiness Operational Exercise (TROPEX) which the Indian Navy conducts every two years, officials said.

"Sea Vigil and TROPEX together will cover the entire spectrum of maritime security challenges, including transition from peace to conflict. Assets of the Indian Navy, Coast Guard, Customs and other maritime agencies will participate in Sea Vigil," the Navy said in a statement.
