its part of anti ballitic missile program.. its endoatmoshpheric .. unlike prithvu which is exoatmoshpheric.

my question was..if we have ashwin why do we need pinaka guided version..
Ashvin is more like a SAM, whereas PINAKA is more like a BM.
The main difference is in between thrust produced by both. PINAKA is just a guided rocket system with comparatively less thrust whereas Ashvin does produce a lot more thrust. The thrust produced by PINAKA is like a 100m sprinter, whereas Ashvin is like a 400m sprinter.
Then comes the guidance system. PINAKA is guided by either LASER or by GPS/IRNSS, whereas Ashvin does make use of RADAR based guidance mode. You simply can't replace one with another.

Instead of cold start which has dubious efficacy, why not evacuate people from our cities and shower porkies with pinakas , brahmos and pralay. Use such heavy firepower that army crumbles from within. Also mass manufacture these by tens of thousands to be deployed on both sino and paki border

Pinaka 2 with 65 kms range and it can take out 3.9 sq kms of area, if we can identify Nasr or other Paki nukes missiles, we can take them out, when this system on move with CSD battle groups with tanks formations.

India should offer these to friendly countries, such a Vietnam, or at the risk of enraging Uncle Sam, Syria?
If Unkil can sell to Pakistan that too with heavy subsidy,we should sell to anyone who will buy to boost our exports and support our nascent defence industry

We annually give a subsidy of $400 millions to Sri Lanka, recently transferred $500 millions to Vietnam and offered $500 millions more to Bangladesh.
On all forums I visited, only Bangladeshis acted thanklessly.

Provided the missile system does not use any component that is under technology transfer control regime.

Those are not Bangladeshis but stranded Porkies. Illegitimate children of Paki army left behind when Islam ka qila Pakistan broke into two.

Maybe they behaved the same way with pakis too pre-1971, and pakis being such a nice people gave it back to them in the language they know best i.e rape, murder, famine, oppression.

That's good news, an MLRS can bring havoc to the moral of an adversary foot soldier, can't fathom a guided one would do! Oh wait, crush the adversary to thy kingdom come.

What sort of explosive does Pinaka use? If 12 Pinakas can destroy 4 sq. km. that means 1 has an approximate blast range of 330 metres.

They can also be nuclear tipped. They are a great addition to artillery.
