Many emerging economies have declined over the past decade.

South Africa and Brazil, they're killing themselves economy by playing politics and some unrealistic policies.
The Fed cut interest rates, the U.S. dollar was over-issued, and the excess U.S. dollars flowed into emerging economies, which led to economic development.
The Fed cuts interest rates, the U.S. dollar flows back to the United States, and the economies of emerging economies decline
After the 2008 economic crisis, the Federal Reserve issued excessive currency to stimulate the economy, so the economy went up
After 2013, the Fed raised interest rates, so the economy of developing countries was in trouble

UK GDP numbers are always a mystery to me, their GDP growth rate is always considerably lesser than India in recent years and yet they continue to be ranked above India.

there was one year where India GDP was acknowledged to be higher than UK, and yet they are ranked higher than India’s GDP again.
Even when they have destroyed the manufacturing capacity of once "Mighty Britain". They are all Financial services now!

I WENT TO IKEA NAVI MUMBAI BUT MOST OF THE THINGS ARE CHINESE THERE,
I THINK GOV SHOULD PROMOTE THEM FOR LOCAL MANUFACTURING AS THEY MAKE MANY PRODUCTS
India was once a primary manufacturing location for IKEA during 2005-2012. They then moved their whole procurement to Vietnam and other south asian countries along with China.
We used to supply material to one of the biggest vendor to IKEA in Noida SEZ. That company went Kaput within a month of IKEA moving outside India.

Most furniture you find today is of the imported ching chong variety, and the "wood" is actually sawdust and glue pressed into sheets, it is called particle board in marketing speak.
This is the sad reality of the world.
Pre-made furniture items comes from China but the for the local manufacturing also the Wood comes from primarily from Malaysia and Indonesia. The mahogany class of wood is very cheap there and hardly and local furniture maker uses Indian wood.

Ya'll Nibbiars still most people prefer to make their own furniture or buy from the local stores can't trust their board made of nothing but putta.

Ya'll Nibbiars most of the Ikea Furniture's are made of Particle Board. Not a choice here.

Despite the gasoline prices, which is obviously better for China as it has 5x more oil reserves than India (one of the reasons why it developed before India).

The taxi rates are 5x in Beijing. And public transport like the metro rail is 3-4x in China. So even that is nullified and rather in favor of India.

I bet you can't compare how cheap Indian railway is. And even though China has HSR, China's low quality train provides same level of service as Indian trains at much much higher price.

Secondly, consumer consumption makes 70% of GDP. In which, house sales and rents is one of the major component (if not the highest) which is again 2-3x higher in china.

1 BHK in Beijing costs 7000 vs 1500 for rent (17000 INR vs 80000 INR) in Delhi:

Man, Single room flats cost upwards of 35K INR per month in shanghai. I had rented a 1 Room+1 Hall + Kitchen + big open balcony for 48K INR per month there! (though shared with 1 room mate during complete stay).
We get 2BHK flats in Noida starting from just 12K. Get a luxurious type flat for 18-20K. Although its a separate story in Mumbai!

Who makes their own furniture in India? Do you mean getting it made by a carpenter? 90% of people get carpenter only for wooden work inside house including door, windows and cabinets and almirahs but not for furniture.
Furniture is made by dedicated Furniture wallahs in dedicated furniture markets in the outskirts of all major cities. 90% of the wood here comes from Malaysia and Indonesia only. This wood is very light and poor in quality even when it is imported.
Unless you are rich like @Haldilal is :cool1: , you don't use Indian superior wood.

We got our furniture made at home at 60%of market price , including upholstery and all .

You just need to get a good carpenter , we know a guy who worked at some outlet in Bangalore , know the work quite well .

Bhai mereko plywood bhi chalega
not this particle board/ fibre board shit, it is literally the made in china "quality" meme made real.
In a year or too that paper they apply to the "wood" peels off, and the "wood" itself bends and distorts, no strength at all.

We bought one TV table this time and i insisted that the furnirture wala show me plywood only.
He told me he has around 4-5 plywood pieces, and rest all shops have furniture with (((particle board))) only.

Real Wood like teak and all is beyond most folks price range, but that doesn't mean you shove this chink garbage down our throats.
This particle board chutiyapa has started from last 10 years only.

For our economical growth we need to focus not only on our economical development but choking our neighbors of their buiness ,we need to flood their market ,use Chinese strategy ,same product with different colour and labelling ,and selling it from different brands .

Any industry they have through fdi Should shift to india , just lure them to shut production there , when their capacity is critical in manufacturing that item sign a fta , then destroy their capacity in it , move on to next sector .

Bangladesh and Pakistan need to be choked off their exports , any expansion they try in except garments should be destroyed by indian brands , just make then tailor , that's what they are , and deserve to be , no need for some fanboy asking to benefit from their growth ,no need , just hamper theirs

Use MDMR high density boards intead! All Indian companies are making them now and their life is well over 1 decade easily and they are water proof too, heavy and strong.

Just add Mica of you your choice above MDMR boards instead of Plywood.
