Given that India's r&d spending as a % of gdp has been flat at ~0.8-0.9% for the last two decades and there is still no clarity on the national research foundation announced 2 years back nor have they allocated anything significant for the national quantum computing mission (despite promising several biilions of US$ not too long ago) do not hold your hopes that high. Even the defence r&d as a % of net def budget does not exceed 4%. They promised a lot of khayali pulao in the NEP on supposed increase in r&d spending. Two years on where are they? We seem to depend a lot on west; muh west will give us hsr technology, muh west will 'assist' us in aero-engine tech, mah west will deliver us know how and know why of green hydrogen tech simply because India Is A mArKeT Of 1.3 BiLLiOn PeOplE. West will simply sell us licenses and we will happily produce it - this has been the norm for us and there is no reason to believe anything has changed yet.
Here, National Research Foundation was announced way back in 2019;

In 2020;

In 2021; INR 50k was promised over a period of 5 years;

In 2022; oN FaST TrAcK;

In 2023; INR 2k 'promised' :)

'Soon' :)

Air India ordering 500 planes from Airbus & Boeing.

See how much money will go outside India. If any Indian company build aircraft than that money will remain in India.

Lacking in aerospace technology, costing us high.
The only thing that matters is whether they are going to make the planes in India or not.

There are only two global companies in Big Plane industry now. You cannot magically build any indigenous industry on such large scale.
Airbus itself is consortium of multiple EU countries.

By industry we meant domestic production of those Airbus/Boeing aircrafts in India.

That situation will change soon. China will soon have its own global company that can compete with Boeing/Airbus and so will Russia. Russia needs to replace its western planes anyway since the western nations have barred Boeing/Airbus from selling spare parts to keep those planes flying. And Russia will never go back to western products again. So count on Ilyushin to come out with big passenger planes in the future.

Russia might just move to Chinese for their manufacturing need altogether.

Russia has two products in this area but cannot complete with West. They have equally old airline program as them.
Chinese industry is big still not comparable to Boeing/Airbus. West is not going to give airworthiness certificate to China for operating their planes in west.

And Russia and China will retaliate. Mark my words. There will be a new reorganizing of the lines in the world. If the western nations will not give airworthiness certificates to Chinese planes, China will retaliate by revoking the airworthiness certificates, and those western planes would have to fly around China and Russian airspace. And other countries may follow the same.

And why is this clown inserting himself here shamelessly when this deal doesn't benefit India at all. None of these aircrafts made in India despite hundreds of them ordered. Biden is celebrating that a million jobs in his country will be supported by this deal and with the money they make they'll give aid to India's enemies meanwhile this chaiwala thinks that without creating jobs in India these aircrafts will be any useful.

He has been a failure when it comes to Make in India, if not for huge services exports of India we would've been another Sri Lanka.
Stop calling PM clown. And Stop your obsession of declaring him a failure.

The planes are manufactured in only 2 factories around thw world. We were never gonna be able to make any plane from Boeing or Airbus here in India.

These 500 new planes are going to transform Indian Airline market only. We will be using them for travel inside and outside India and it will increase jobs in India only.

Koi personal dikkat hai to apne personal level par bhadas nikalo not here name calling PM directly.

Ya'll Nibbiars as said The whole deal is less than 50 billion dollars in actual payments, and not some imaginary 100 to 125 billion dollars asking price, and a large part is leased, actual cost born by Tata by owning the aircraft is Much less at most 30 billion dollars over a decade. You don't need the actual order to make manufacturing in India. just a market case and the government support which we are lack now.

Yes, I am saying on to your face stop dropping down to low level and name calling our PM directly.
Why shouldn't I when he and his ministers were involved in this so-called 'private' deal? Opening an assembly line even if most components are still much better than importing whole aircrafts.
