Yes and its a stupid decision for a small country like Bangladesh.
The country is so small (800 * 600 km).

A normal train would take 5 hrs, bullet train may take 3 to cover any distance in the whole nation.
Additional time for checking, boarding, etc is far higher than the time saved.

It's like India starting a flight between Noida and Gurgaon.
It's not necessarily stupid idea for Bangladesh. Lot of small countries like Taiwan, S. Korea that are smaller than Bangladesh have bullet trains. The idea is not feasible today, but 20 years in future, its perfectly viable. Even if 1 hr is saved per working person, that 1 hr saved translates to improved productivity and increased income, like compound interest. Projects like these are important for a country to get out of middle income trap, especially for smaller countries like Bangladesh.

Billionaires can afford a private jet, middle man fears even economy class tickets.

South Korea and TWN have per capita income of 20 K USD plus, 10x more than Bangladesh.
Even there, bullet train runs on a loss including China and JPN:

Bullet trains and maglevs are not an effective solution. They cost a lot and not recommended for middle income nations.

Even USA never made a HSR.

Bangladesh should wait for Hyperloop if it wants to revolutionize its railways which promises to be a far better/cheaper and safer solution:

Why waste billions of dollars for 4G when 5G is around the corner !!

Economic Gains of a bullet train cannot be captured by just balance sheets. Lots of infra has economic repercussions but make loss on investment.
Don't think its a good idea to just skip to Hyperloop.

Usa hugely prefers cars and that's why they have buily those massive highways and there are enough videos on YouTube stating how bad public transport is in us and public transport everywhere runs in deep losses because they are meant to help move people not gain profits

@FalconSlayers i watched a video of someone from Maharashtra opposing the Ahmedabad Mumbai bullet train saying that Narendra Modi will take the industries of Maharashtra to Gujrat on this bullet train so we will never allow bullet train in Maharashtra
Actually, this sick mentality will help industries to move to Gujarat. Dim9nd burge is about to begin operation in Surat. GIFT city is all set to become financial hub.

There should be a seperate ministry of nextgen tech like AI, Nanotechnology, 3D Printing, AR, VR, Blockchain, 5G, IoT and Robotics among others.
If you are going to have a ministry, which means that you'll have bureaucrats who probably will have MA honors in History and they'll screw up everything. Also, the reason why the IT industry was able to bloom in India because we did not have an IT ministry when the IT industry to coming up in India, otherwise it i.e. the IT industry would have been smothered in the cradle.

Government should proceed with Delhi Kolkata High Speed Rail Corridor once it’s get completed people in Maharashtra will themselves demand High Speed Rail connectivity and it will become impossible for regional political parties of Maharashtra to deny it
I am surprised they didn’t oppose Western Dedicated Freight Corridor

That's right. Babus mental and ethical capabilities are well known. Deregulation is what is required in AI, cyber security research and development. Those babus will always try to bring regulations.
