@Kunal what is the orange triangular insignia on these men?never saw orange triangles before though sikh/punjab regiment soldiers were spotted with similar yellow triangles in helmets .
Its a simple method of IFF ( Identification Friend or Foe) in the battlefield. Many of the ultra's run around wearing Army style fatigues and a disturbing number have stolen / insidiously procured actual Army uniforms also. Wearing this kind of identification tag helps our counter forces to quickly distinguish the enemy so as to avoid fratricide. Most military forces follow this pattern, in Afghanistan and Iraq for example, the Western forces placed large bright orange flags on vehicals so that aircraft flying overhead would not mistake them for hostiles. In WWII, Allied aircraft sported big black & white stripes in European theater to avoid misidentification.

Why don't army use .408 or .50bmg sniper rifles?
I don't think you'll get a clear line of sight of more than 100 metres in built up areas like Kashmir. In fact we don't have Barren lands of Afghanistan or Rolling Hills of Northern Ireland. .50 BMG may have revlevance in regular war scenario where you might have to engage targets at 1.5km and for that (I think) army is already using Denel NTW20. But in COIN ops urban areas, snipers have very little role to play.

Is it Desi version of Infrared Retroreflective (IR) Flag that becomes when seen through NVG or just a coloured patch??
PS: I recently read about this...The Infrared Retroreflective (IR) Flag is an attachable patch that enables the identification of friendly forces. The flag becomes visible in dark environments when observed with near-infrared vision systems, such as Night Vision Goggles (NVGs) and near-infrared illuminators. The IR Flag is made of micro-prismatic, retroreflective black polymeric film contrasted with opaque desert sand stars and stripes. The IR Flag, which is 3.5 inches long by 2 inches wide, attaches to military uniforms with hook fastener tape.

@Kunal Biswas i read in one of the fb fan pages that MoD is thinking about modifying the VZ58s of RR, and for that they are going to have some tie up with the checkoslovakian firm.
Do you have any idea about that?

Now, however, the CRPF is turning towards the Defence Research and Development Organization's (DRDO's) Nishant UAV. CRPF officials have found that the Nishant, if deployed in numbers offers them much superior value than a single or a few MALE UAVs and that too without the need to set up substantial ground based infrastructure to support the same. Additionally they have learnt that DRDO was in a position to deploy a couple of UAV's with immediate effect for operations against the Maoists.
<snip>
As such CRPF is currently looking to procure up to 16 Nishant UAVs with HAL being engaged in the production of the same.
