Amid China tension, Indian armed forces showed their preparedness at LAC. Indian army and Air Force demonstrated their capability to counter Chinese aggression. Indian forces are ready for the long haul with supplies being flown in to support increased troop deployment. 50,000 Indian troops are likely to remain stationed in Ladakh through the winter months. IAF's C-17 aircraft and Chinook choppers are reportedly being used to ferry personnel and supplies. Soldiers are being provided with specialised winter clothing, heaters, and arctic tents. Army is also working to keep its equipment in optimum shape during Ladakh's punishing winter. Army engineers and technicians were seen doing servicing and repair work on Bofors howitzers. Mobile spare bin lorries, or vehicles with wide array of spare parts, have also been deployed

The Indian defence industry has a chance to undertake a major transformation in the post-COVID scenario since the twin effects of shrinking budgets and recent policy reforms will enable the armed forces to source many of its requirements locally.



In his first interview during the Covid-19 crisis, Army Chief Gen M M Naravane, speaking to Nitin A Gokhale of bharatshakti.in via Skype, said that the army is fighting fit though the pandemic has been a disruptive factor. He said India needs to invest in national security since a strong nation is prerequisite for a prosperous one. He also assured that Make in India was on track and necessary to kick start the economy. He strongly advised Pakistan to rethink on its strategy if exporting terrorism, saying it's failed and not helping anyone.

The Army Chief defined his position on multiple issues that will affect the conduct of futuristic warfare. These have a major impact on businesses in terms of product design. ISR capabilities would have to be enhanced and standoff strike platforms optimised. However, boots on ground will remain a must notwithstanding technology's pivotal role.
